Tonight i watched an episode where a couple found out early in the morning that their little daughter was missing. The child battered body was found 4 days later. The parents became suspects and eventually they were accused of their daughter murder.

the father (the girl wasnt his own daughter, he adopted her) was found guilty of murder in 1st degree and condemned to 45 years. But relatives and friends started a media campaign claiming that there wasnt enough evidence to prove he was responsible for the girl murder. He got lucky, and get out of jail after 18 months.

What drove me crazy  is that at the end of the story, Stack mentioned that there was an update about that story and that it was going to be showed in the future.

I dont want to wait for weeks to watch the update, so i want to know what happened:

Did they find who was the real murderer?

I believe the family name was Dowalibi, but i couldnt find anything when i ran a search across the site.

That is the Dowailibys, although you're spelling might be incorrect, which is a possible reason why you didn't find anything. I don't know if my spelling is correct either. I don't know of an update regarding the real murderer. Personally, I believe that the Dowalibys are innocent. While it is true that most crimes are committed by someone that victim knew, there are of course some occasions where it is done by a complete stranger and I think the police made a mistake by not looking into other avenues (see: Ramsey, John and Patsy). The broken window was overlooked by authorities, and the "eyewitness testimony" was bogus, IMO.

Yeah that's the one where they say someone broke in through the small basement window and took Jaqueline while she was asleep. Didn't David take a lie detector test as well? I don't guess there is any new news out there on this case as someone would have posted it on here if there were.

There was speculation that Jacqueline could have been killed by her paternal uncle (her birth father's brother, not Mr. Dowaliby's relative) who was schizophrenic although he has never been charged. That is the most likely scenario imo.

I agree with crystaldawn. They covered that case on either Cold Case Files or American Justice. The evidence against David Dowaliby was weak and I think they either said they had a confession or strong proof that it was the uncle that did it.

Thanks everybody for the info. This theory (of her uncle being the assasin) was mentioned in the UM update of that story?

FYI: "Assasin" wouldn't be the correct term. That's for surprise murders of a political or high profile nature. "Murderer" would be more appropriate in this case. ;)

As for the uncle information, It was not on UM that this was mentioned. It was the Cold Case that had the update.

I'm glad UM has fans as far away as El Salvador. That is awesome! :)

It was in the NBC broadcast. But for years, the update was inexplicably absent from the Lifetime reruns; however, Lifetime did eventually show that update when the Dowaliby segment was intermixed with a first-run segment (either in 2001 or 2002).
