View Full Version : "Bionic Woman" Wins Wednesday Night - Highest-Rated New Show So Far!!!
Brian Damage 09-30-2007, 12:00 PM The high expectations and huge marketing efforts for the fall season haven't paid off for new shows yet, as they haven't done much to stir the imaginations of viewers.
"Bionic Woman" in its debut, has been the best new show so far in the young season, drawing a 5.5 rating the 18-49 key demo. It beat out "Private Practice," the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff, which had a 5.1 rating, which makes it the seasons' second place show behind "Bionic."
"Dancing With the Stars" had a decent rating, winning the 8 p.m. slot with a 4.0 mark. "Kid Nation," in spite of all the buzz, dropped 10 percent, only able to come in with a 2.8 rating.
The 10 p.m. hour was won by the debut of NBC's "Life," finishing at 4.1. That brought them the third-rated new show of the season so far. It beat out the season premiere of "CSI:NY" which was only able to come up with a 3.7 rating, dropping a huge 26 percent from last year.
Pavan 09-30-2007, 06:35 PM As Janice would say, I don't want the demos, give me the "raw numbers." Bionic Woman didn't win in the raw numbers. Private Practice did.
Both shows are the highest rated new shows so far. You can't call just Bionic the winner. Nice try, Brian. Bionic won the demo (the article is wrong, Bionic got a 5.7 and PP got a 5.2). PP won in total viewers and households (9.8/15, 14.41 million) to Bionic's 8.5/13, 13.91 million.

Of course Private Practice won, sure it did.

Pavan 09-30-2007, 07:31 PM Yes it won in 18-49, but did it win total viewers/HH? Answer that.

Pavan 09-30-2007, 07:34 PM All the articles you keep showing me are the same thing. 18-49 Demo.
Pavan 09-30-2007, 07:36 PM Now, CSI's premiere beat Grey's in total viewers/HH, but I'm sure you'll post somewhere that CSI beat Grey's. Grey's beat CSI in 18-49, but you won't care then.

We are not discussing CSI or Grey's, we are talking about The Bionic Woman and it won the demo, which sponsors LOVE.

That is true. It seems like all anyone cares about anymore is the Demo anyway. I've seen shows get canceled because the demo wasn't great even though the total ratings were.

The sponsors do love the 18-49 demo, but the overall ratings are still what is most looked at. CBS has won the total viewers number the last few years, and they call their selves America's #1 Network, which technically they are.
To be fair, both shows are the #1 new shows so far. Bionic Woman did NOT win in total viewers, so you can't call it the #1 new show. Private Practice did NOT win in 18-49, so you can't call it the #1 new show. They both are the top new shows so far. No clear winner.
We'll see what happens this week.

Thank you Pav.
I will say congrats to BW however. It did better than I expected. I was quite shocked it beat PP in the demos(yes only the demo Brian, but that is very important). I do expect dropoffs this week though for BOTH shows. Not sure which one will drop more, my hunch says BW, but it grew at the half-hour so I'm not sure.
