View Full Version : The Fab Four In Florida...
Ireneparalegal 09-29-2007, 05:58 PM Today I seen the episode where the boys are going to judge a beauty contest.
Wow! even for the 50's, that blonde beauty sure was a HOT MAMA! I wonder if Desi had his eyes on her "after" the filming of this episode.
I love how the girls get insanely jealous.
Lucy's plot to ruin the boys' chances of judging that contest left me wondering, they rented the boat, surely the person in charge would not have allowed the boat to go out with only half a tank of gas.  And who would allow gas to be put in a thermos? Are we to assume that Lucy did that on her own?
Then, Ricky does the idiotic thing of putting that dangerous thermos filled with gas ON THE DOCK! For anyone to mistakenly drink!
Lodee 09-29-2007, 06:35 PM I think I remember reading somewhere that Lucy was jealous of that blond when they were filming the episode, but I can't remember where.

That was Joi Lansing, who would turn up a couple years later in "Lucy Wants a Career." Later on, she had a recurring role on "The Beverly Hillbillies." Sadly, she died young (43) of breast cancer.

Madame X 09-29-2007, 08:04 PM Lucy: I told the boatman to only give us a half a tank of gas (Yeah, right. They would never do that).
Ricky: It's a very dangerous place to keep gasoline. I'll take it out here and leave it on the pier someplace (Thanks, Rick. Maybe some kid will find it).
The hot blonde was Joi Lansing who later appeared in LDCH, "Lucy Wants a Career"

Check out the stand-ins for the cast. Ethel and Little Ricky are pretty obvious! Notice Lucy doesn't have her purse.

Wow! Lucy did have her purse after all!

I'm surprised that script got approved by Lucy in the first place. Those are some great pictures by the way.
Katya 09-29-2007, 08:15 PM Lucy got was coming to her in this one big deal they're judging a beauty contest:rolleyes: she really was a dumbell in thisone and you never put gasoline in a thermos. One thing though is Ethel; was in on it so why she was just as guilty as Lucy was yet she got mad at Lucy too.I thought the ending was great.I loved it when the girls think Clade is a headhunter and Ricky hesitaes about carrying one off and Fred yell " You forgot one!
Ireneparalegal 09-29-2007, 08:16 PM Stacy, I was wondering when I watched the episode, they did use stand-ins? It was hard to tell from the quick scene. But seeing the still pic here makes it easier to see.
Never noticed the missing purse.
Again, great pics. Thanx for posting them.
drewfussclass101 09-30-2007, 12:05 AM out of all the "parter" shows (and by parter i mean eps that continue in another setting that the norm. ie europe hollywood, etc) This is by far my fav.

Lucy: Uh, i need to call my land landy i think i left my tub running and it flowing over
Lady Driver(her name escapes me for the moment): i though you said she was your land lady.
Lucy: Oh, yea, Hey land Lady my tub is running over! LOL

You might also recognize her from THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES. She played Lester Flatt's wife.

It's possible, but I never really watched that show before. I don't even know who Lester Flatt was...http://wade.hu/smiley/kategoriak/shoutbox/eek.gif

Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were hillbilly singers who recorded lots of songs. They also wrote and sang the themes to "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Petticoat Junction."
Ireneparalegal 10-01-2007, 10:32 PM Speaking of Beverly Hillbillies, anyone seen the new GEICO commercial where they are singing and showing some of the opening credits of the Beverly Hillibillies? Crazy stuff. I hate commercials, but the GEICO ones are unique and they always seem to catch you off guard. I only knew abt this one because my boyfriend told me to watch it.

The GEICO ads are the best; they have fresh and unique ideas: the Gecko; the surprising "I just saved a bundle on my car insurance skits; the Cavemen (good at first) and now the old shows becoming GEICO commercials-Jed Clampett on a computer!
Sorry. I bit off topic from Lucy!

Yeah, I've seen that. Very funny, Jed Clampett sitting in his humble little shack in the Ozarks playing on his computer!
comedyfreak 10-02-2007, 05:15 AM Speaking of Geico commercials, have you seen the one for The Flintstones? It's great to see the old shows make somewhat of a comeback, it's good to see vintage classics again.
Lodee 10-03-2007, 08:29 AM I love that Flintstone one. They do have pretty clever commercials. don't they?
