First of all, thank God---the regular characters!!!

I found it hard to believe that Gilligan and the Skipper could really make it on that little bit of raft, even without the storm!!!

Also, how did they manage to swim back to shore, were they not very far out at sea?

Do you think this is one of those episodes in which Gilligan is not very anxious to be rescued???

I also found it amazing that Gilligan was able to put together that Marubi costume in the pitch dark cave.

It's interesting that in the "How do you think they're doing" scene with the Professor,
Maryann kind of criticizes Gilligan. The MAPs must love that scene!! Well, they were just getting acquainted at that point.

OOoooooh those poor desperate MAP's.... do you not agree Im????

Ok, so when they're on that raft, doesn anybody else see SKipper loose his hat??? HOW'D HE GET THAT BACK?!

Two on a raft... watched that the other night.
Did anybody else find that Jim Backus's first Mr. Howell voice sounded a bit like Mr. Magoo???

I do wish there would have been an episode where they all had to get to know each other and we learned more about their past and everything.

I noticed the Mr.Magoo's voice too,I guess Schwartz noticed this also and told Jim to stop it:)

Yes,Flashbacks like on Lost would have been nice.We could have known who Skinny Mulligan was and how he looks like(I bet he was just like Maynard's character),Herbert Mary Ann's "so called" boyfriend and how they were all like before the shipwreck.

Back to Two On The Raft:Those sharks sure were hungry to eat bamboo's sticks and how often do you find your own SOS message on a bottle?

apparently, often enough!

"Two On a Raft" was the most expensive episode mainly because it was shot on location and lots of water scenes. I guess this was the reason the filming was moved back to good ole' Hollywood, CA instead of whatever island they'd been using (the name escapes me at the moment)...
Do you guys think the show would have been better if it had continued to be shot on location? Personally, I didn't think the sound quality was all that great and I think it would have severely limited how bizzare the show could be...
just a tought. :)

Oh, the Kauai scenes from the pilot are gorgeous! Gilligan fishing with Moloa'a Bay in the background, running through the jungle at Hanalei...the garden isle also provides us with so many of those beautiful establishing shots in the first season.

Even Zuma beach, where this episode and Goodbye Island were filmed, are also lovely. One of the reasons I love the first season so much is that you really get the sense they are on a South Pacific isle.

The raft idea was mad, as the Professor urged. Thank goodness some mysterious current drew the Skipper and Gilligan back to their own island before they were out too far!

Note how both Gilligan and the Professor independently come up with the idea of the trap. Gilligan's clumsy, but he's not stupid. And this is confirmed by Gilligan's very clever plot to divert his friends' anger by dressing as the headhunter. As Gilligan turns and confides to the audience, "Gilligan one smart Marubi!"
