I am saying it 1 day early, because I won't be on-line tomorrow. September 30th, 1982,this wonderful show premiered. I was around, one of the few who watched it that night, when it finished dead last in the ratings that week! The best show to come out of the 1982 fall season, and, I believe, the best sitcom ever (only Mary Tyler Moore rivals it). The show that brought romantic comedy, serial storytelling and cliffhangers to sitcoms. And, of course, whether or not you should drink cold beer on a cold day, just remember the key to life: "Women, you can't live with them, pass the beer nuts."

And what were your first impressions? Were you instantly hooked or did you think to yourself that you would give it more time to grow on you?

I was around too, but I admit I didn't start watching the show until 1988.

But happy anniversary to Cheers!

I was very intrigued by the TV guide preview; the debut was genuinely funny and I was instantly hooked; I was loyal and I remain loyal. I think what cinched it even more was the ending to the 2nd episode ("Sam's Women.")

On Thursday, September 30th, 1982, the Charles Brothers and James Burrows gave birth to a show that started all: CHEERS. A place "where everybody knows your name." Happy 25th Cheers!!

P.S. Ladies and gentlemen i got an email from Gary Portnoy about the theme song. Sadly he wont be at Boston for the bash. Here it is:

Hi, Andrae

Thank you so much for taking the time to express your feelings for the Cheers Theme. I truly appreciate your kind words. I will not be going to Boston for the anniversary, but I will most definitely be celebrating in my heart.

Many thanks again,

Gary

It never entered my mind that the Bull and Finch would have a celebration for the 25th. It should've and these are the times I really wish I went to college in Boston.

Did anybody go to the celebration??

Happy 25th Cheers!
