I just watch it I wouldn't buy the DVD. Ireneparalegal 09-28-2007, 04:45 PM Hell no. Just like I fell in love with I Love Lucy at the age of 6 and that was in 1971, almost 20 years after the show was on the air. Age has nothing to do with you liking a show. catlover79 09-28-2007, 06:04 PM I think it's great that you are a LITB fan! I'm 28 and have loved Bewitched for years...and I was born way after it went off the air. I think the family love and life lessons on LITB are timeless - thus any generation can learn and enjoy the show. tv star collector 09-28-2007, 06:49 PM Classic TV shows are like music by Elvis Presley and The Beatles or movies starring great stars like Laurel & Hardy or John Wayne. They're timeless. I was ten years old when Humphrey Bogart died, in 1957; and I didn't really discover what a great actor he was until I started watching his films on TV in the 1970s. After that, everytime the local TV station showed a Bogie film I tuned in. I was hooked. It's the same with great television shows. Heck, the measure of greatness is when something--whether a book, movie, TV show or song--can stand the test of time. I think it's terrific that young people today appreciate the stars and shows that I grew up with. Nothing wrong with that, when I was 19 I was watching Leave it to Beaver and other shows from that era, and still do 20-some years later. AB 09-28-2007, 06:56 PM My 15 year old son watches a few of the older shows too, so you're not alone. When I was a kid I loved movies with Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis, Don Knotts, and the series of Blondie movies, and I preferred them over the new comedies that were coming out...still do. A couple of years ago I introduced Abbott and Costello to my niece and nephews, at first I was worried they would think the movies were too old...I was wrong, they loved them. And now whenever they come over to visit they ask to watch one of their movies. camdog 09-29-2007, 07:54 PM Hell no. Just like I fell in love with I Love Lucy at the age of 6 and that was in 1971, almost 20 years after the show was on the air. Age has nothing to do with you liking a show. Thank you Yooch 09-29-2007, 09:50 PM I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all! Critics say that shows like LITB are too idealistic, etc., etc, but right about now, I'd say we could use a little more of that. Mr. Television 09-29-2007, 09:55 PM Their's nothing wrong with it at all. I discovered LITB when I was about 11 or 12..and this was in the late 1970's. I loved the show . All it does is show a loving family and that's something that today's tv sitcoms seem to lack. OH Nuts! 09-30-2007, 02:00 PM Of course there's nothing wrong with it- some of the themes in the show are eternal and thus will always strike chords with future generations. Also maybe you just like nostalgia-and of course nothing wrong with that either. Elvis Fonzie Dean 09-30-2007, 04:56 PM I'm nineteen and i'm a fan of LITB, and have been a few years now. LITB is a lot more funny and better than a lot of today's sitcoms.I actually like the parents being the normal ones, unlike today where the parents are portrayed as being still kids with low IQs.I wish there was a sitcom today that relied on creative comedy, rather than dirty or generic comedy. tanquant 10-01-2007, 03:01 PM There's nothing wromg with that at all. I have been watching it since the early 80's. I was about 8 years old. Back then I used to stay up and watch The Honeymooners also. I love programs where it's wholesome, the kids are kids (not wisecrackers) and are very clean(no profanity). kooky12 10-02-2007, 11:00 AM This really concerns me. You should not be watching LITB at 19. You need to watch the more hip shows, with their constant sex references, foul language, dirty innuendos, and sex jokes that have been recycled since Three's Company. Get with the times ! bingbangbaby 10-02-2007, 11:47 PM Just curious camdog, what did you perceive would be wrong with it? Because it's old? Because it can be considered a "kids" show? I'm not sure what at all could possibly be wrong with any person, young or old, liking Leave It To Beaver. I like tv star collector's analogy of classic/oldies music...somehow I don't think you would be questioning if you liked the music from the same time/era as LITB. How is this any different? It isn't. And if you want the dvd's, buy the dvd's!! You'll be glad you have them when you get older. :) FactoryGirl 10-02-2007, 11:56 PM Is it wrong for a young guy like me to be interested in a show from the 50s and 60s? I just wanna know. I just watch it I wouldn't buy the DVD. Why are you asking this question? Did someone tell you that you are too young to watch LITB? Sweetie, there is nothing wrong with that. I'm 26 and I love Edie Sedgwick, Natalie Wood, and Lena Horne, all women before my time. I watch a lot of Audrey Hepburn movies too, so if you enjoy a show a little before your time, by all means, go ahead! *ClassicPinUp* 10-03-2007, 12:33 AM I'm 20 and watch The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver etc. and really don't give a rats @ss what anyone "my age" has to say about it. Although most people I know -after watching once or twice- now like the shows too. Doesn't matter if you're 1-100. Good shows are good shows no matter what the era. People who only watch "today's shows" and write off the classics are small minded IMO. True but the same could be said for people who write off modern entertainment and only watch 'classics'. camdog 10-05-2007, 02:24 PM Just curious camdog, what did you perceive would be wrong with it? Except you kooky12. kramer 10-09-2007, 04:48 AM I am 31 and tvland is my favorite channel. I love the old black and white shows ie. Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith show, and I love Lucy to name a few. People tell me all the time I was born in the wrong decade. *ClassicPinUp* 10-09-2007, 01:03 PM True but the same could be said for people who write off modern entertainment and only watch 'classics'. Right but that tends to only be the much older age group. People around my age seem to think if it's black and white then it's old and no good.. which is untrue. I think it's good to be able to sit back and enjoy a classic show and then turn around and enjoy a "modern" show just as well. Meade 10-19-2007, 01:16 AM 19? Thats a boy! blackbeard 10-21-2007, 08:36 AM any age is okay to be watching beaver but if you were still watching Barney the dinosaur at age 19 then you might have a problem. lukes42 10-30-2007, 10:58 AM I became a fan of Leave it to Beaver right around the age of 19 and have enjoyed it ever since. I even had a LitB fansite for awhile. There is definitely nothing wrong with enjoying the show at your age because there are many others in your shoes. catlover79 10-30-2007, 12:03 PM any age is okay to be watching beaver but if you were still watching Barney the dinosaur at age 19 then you might have a problem.  |
