September 27, 2007 -- ROSIE O'Donnell has a bug in her bonnet over ratings for "The View" - which ABC says have risen since her ugly departure last May.

O'Donnell posted a note on her blog yesterday from a reader arguing that the show's ratings were better last season during O'Donnell's stormy tenure.

"While I'm all about creative use of ratings, I think we need to do something with the lovely people at 'The View' insisting that the ratings are up without Rosie when in fact they are not," the reader posted.

O'Donnell herself included ratings that seem to contradict ABC's numbers.

Specifically, O'Donnell noted that ratings for "The View" among women 18-49 - the show's target demographic - are actually down 9 percent this season since Whoopi Goldberg replaced O'Donnell.

ABC, citing Nielsen, claims that same audience has actually grown about 4 percent - from 932,000 viewers last year to 972,000 viewers for the week of Sept. 11, 2007.

"We stand by [our ratings release]," an ABC official said yesterday - adding that the network had tried, but could not replicate, O'Donnell's posted ratings results.

Overall, the total audience for "The View" with Goldberg on board surged to nearly 3.6 million viewers this year - compared to around 3.1 million viewers on average last year with O'Donnell, according to Nielsen.

Who was right? The answer is both. O'Donnell posted ratings that compared the first week of this season versus the same week last year - while ABC's ratings compare the second week of both seasons.

"I don't think you can draw too many conclusions from just one week," says Horizon Media's Brad Adgate. "The season is a marathon, not a sprint."

I remember when the "in" thing was for Hollywood celebs to make workout videos. Rosie's would be right up there with Zsa Zsa Gabor's workout video...

Exactly, I don't understand her need to post that information. We can all see the change. The View is a bit boring without Rosie, she made it entertaining to watch. Those yelling matches with EH were priceless

She wasn't fired, she left the show

I think Rosie is just one of those negative people who isn't happy unless she's whining about something.

Yeah but, wasnt it one of those "Leave or youll be fired" things? I heard she left cause she didnt want the embarrassment of a firing. (Though, not from her...just the rumour i heard)

No. She left by choice. She wasn't going to be fired. ABC loved her fueding with people every other week.
