你好!

I am an American living in China and I bought all 11 seasons of MASH for about $8 dollars from a market here. It is a Disc 6 set, and I have misplaced Disc 6, but that was from the post-Radar era, and most of those sucked anyway.

I have noticed that they used the same Asian actors to play different characters in MASH. One was the actor Mako, who appeared as a Chinese officer/doctor, a sadistic English speaking ROK officer and a non English speaking North Korean GI. Another actor played a South Korean medic being harrassed by Frank, a North Korean soldier surrendering to Hawkeye and BJ, and a third character as a North Korean doctor who spoke English whose goatee was shaved off and impersonated an American doctor. There is also the actor who is rather large, bald with a mustache who played numerous characters in multiple seasons (he made the wood bust of Colonel Potter, given to him the day he got Sophie the horse.) There were a few others, like Pat Morita, and the guy who played Capt. Yamamoto (a character actor seen in dozens of things).

Were there just so few Asian actors to fill parts, that they used these actors exclusively? I wonder why George Tekai never played a role?

The actor who played Arnold on Happy DaysYes, he was mentioned, Pat Morita

I expect the reason we saw the same Asian actors all the time was that they were probably the ones registered with the casting agency, that M*A*S*H used...Same reason youd see the same people playing the perps on barney miller in several roles
