Adam and his father had a strained relationship.

Was Caroline wrong to tell Mary to write to Adam's father and tell him about the baby without Adam knowing?

Caroline was indeed wrong and Mary was wrong for taking that stupid advice.

I have this saying, "Respect my beef". It merely means that if I have a "tiff" with someone or a real huge beef with someone, although I don't expect you to also hold a grudge against them, I do expect you to respect the fact that I have my reasons for having a beef with this person. Don't interfere.

Caroline was indeed wrong because she doesn't know the "whole story" behind Adam's separation from his father. Mary, as Adam's wife, should have respected his feelings. She could of course talk over those feelings with Adam, but as far as communicating with his father, I could only see that happening IF AND ONLY IF Mary already had a relationship with Adam's father PRIOR to the separation. Mary didn't know the man, therefore, she should not have written that letter.

I agree, and your "Respect my beef" saying is a good guide to live by.

Thank you.

I just got the feeling with Caroline and Mary, they had the blessing of having such a great family and they couldn't understand that others don't have that same thing.

I think that's true. Adam even said something to the effect that just because Mary had a great father like Charles, doesn't mean that everyone else did.

Bingo! He was right. Obviously for storyline purposes it was nice and sweet to have these two find each other again and reconcile, however, it was done in the wrong way.

I love Caroline, but she DOES have a tendancy to meddle. I can only
recall 2 times where her meddling actually did some good. In the episode
of the blind young girl who was an artist, and lived with her adoptive
parents. Caroline arranged for the girl to come face-to-face with her
birth mother. She admitted that she was "just a nosy neighbor" But at
least she had the permission of the adoptive mother! And the other time
is when she sent Laura to Sleepy Eye, knowing Almanzo was there, hoping
they'd patch up their differences, which they did-eventually! I could go on
& on about times that she shouldn't have interfered, but that would take
the rest of the day!
