Call me crazy, call me cuckoo, but whenever I'm feeling down I hum the MTM theme to myself and get a quick pick-me-up. Does anyone else do this?

I've always enjoyed the incidental music, too. It was short but very effective to that feel good feeling I get when watching MTM. No other sitcom has had that effect on me.

All in the Family had some music during the first season but seemed so out of place that thankfully was dropped for later episodes.

That music from the first season of "All in the Family" sounded like it came out of some soap opera from old-time radio. Very bizarre.

Sometimes when I'm walking down the street, I would hum that music from when Mary and Bess spent a fun day in downtown Minneapolis. That has me smiling and looking forward to where I got to go. So, shipoopi, you are not cuckoo.

I thought MTM had some great music interludes in between the scenes.

MTM's theme is truly a classic. If you want to get an instrumental cut, turn on the French audio on the season 1 DVD.

As a single girl trying to make it on my own, I consider it one of "my" songs. :D

I'm not a girl () but I do remember being little and throwing my hat up in the air repeatedly like she did. Fun times. LOL

During the first season closing credits of Rhoda, Valerie Harper tossed her hat in the air in the middle of a NYC traffic jam. She ended up dropping the hat on the ground and nearly fell over. She then slinks away in embarrassment.

In a season 6 episode of All in the Family, Mike gets a job offer in Minnesota. When he and Gloria tell Edith that they may be moving there, she said "Ain't that where Mary Tyler Moore keeps losing her hat?" They say it's a great place to live and Edith replied with "If it's so great, why did Rhoda and Phyllis move away?".

My favorite MTM Show music is the upbeat jazzy music from the closing credits of Season 1. That is the music that always gets me pumped!
