I saw "Goodbye Radar" last night and I thought it was that episode, but unless they cut it, that scene wasn't there. I remember Radar being in his dress uniform and talking to someone in Colonel Potter's office. He was totally drunk. Can anyone help me out here?

"Soldier of the Month". He also got drunk in the episode after that, "The Gun".

That episode contains two of my favorite Radar quotes. "I'll be going to jail in my puberty. I won't get out until my adultery!" "This gun is... it's a teddy bear!"
I know I don't have the exact quotes.

Hola!
I have all 11 seasons of MASH, and the show was never consistant about Radar's drinking. There is one episode in the McLean Stevenson era, where Radar is caught by a General (the actor who played Boss Hogg on Dukes of Hazzard) kicked back with his feet up in Blake's office, with a glass of whis
key in one hand and a cigar in the other. However, in a scene with Sherman Potter several seasons later, Potter was offering Radar one of his cigars and Radar inquiring if it would get him addicted where Potter said something about smoking three a day and never getting the habit.
Radar would occaionally drink a beer in the O.C. if he was depressed about something and wanted to feel grown up. He tasted the moonshine in the swamp and complained to BJ "I thought this stuff was supposed to make you feel good." when BJ said it wasn't to feel good but feel nothing.
My general feeling is that Radar rarely drank, but was occaisonally picking up bad habits from the others, and felt that it was a rite of adulthood.

what happened was; after the first season Gary Burghoff suggested that Radar would be funnier if he had those little traits about not smoking, etc.
For instance that episode where he's in Col. Blakes office in one scene, smoking a cigar and drinking Brandy is called CHIEF SURGEON WHO? and it's the 2nd or 3rd episode when some of the small details of the show weren't worked out yet.
Some shows are like that; even today. Like in STAR TREK, Starfleet was called 3 or 4 different things before they decided on the name "STARFLEET".

Radar also got drunk in "Abyssinia, Henry" and "Margaret's Marriage."

This is the one area of MASH that I cannot stand and not just from Radar. While MASH handled many other situations with the wide range of emotions that people possess, they were TERRIBLE when it came to 'acting' drunk.
It was as if Foster Brooks was the 'drunk coach' on the series. No matter what personality type they were sober (and each character was its own distinct personality), they all became the same type of stuttering stumbling drunk when they drank. It makes me cringe.
The only emotion aside from that which ever came out was when BJ punches Hawkeye and breaks down crying later in the Period of Adjustment episode.
Aside from that one which comes to mind, these 'drinking' scenes are my least favorite of the series and don't ring true to me the same way they remarkably dealt with other emotions throughout the series.

I thought it was hilarious when they were drunk! Henry in "The Ring Banger" Hawkeye, Trapper and Margaret in "Alcoholics Unanimous" Margaret in "Hot Lips in Empty Arms" and Frank in "Officers Only" and "Dear Dad Again". They were all so funny! I love it in "The Ring Banger" when Henry says, "North Korea, this is a stick up!" I laugh so hard every time I see it. And Margaret in "Hot Lips in Empty Arms" "I'm not so think as your drunk I am!"
