According to this...

...it seems like we will be seeing the series on DVD in the near future. Obviously nothing is definite but it is a good sign!
There is also a discussion about this here where I got the info:

This came from over at the Shout! Forum by Brian
"Guys, don't let my comment serve as any kind of official announcement. That's not what I do here. I've not said that Shout! Factory will be releasing this title, and I've certainly not said to look out for it anytime in "early 2008" as I've noticed reported over on The Home Theater Forum.
If there are ideas and/or suggestions for shows or bonus material on shows, I'd love to hear them. With our love of the Ozzie & Harriet collection we released earlier this year, Father Knows Best could be a great title for us. But for now, I can tell you with GREAT certainty that I am not working on a Father Knows Best collection."

Sorry for misunderstanding and thanks for clarifying. Perhaps the clear interest in seeing this show released may spark something.

Hopefully it will. I just hope that if Shout! does release it that they are able to use unedited episodes. I was dissapointed with the syndicated versions on Shout!'s Ozzie and Harriet set. I would also love to see Shout get their hands on some other shows like: Dennis the Menace, The Donna Reed Show, My Three Sons, The Patty Duke Show, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, Love That Bob, and Please Don't Eat the Daisies. It is disappointing that these shows haven't seen legit releases yet.

Billy Gray, who played the Anderson's son Bud in FKB, apparently isn't too fond of this series. I have to say I agree with him. It was a dark, moody show, rather maudlin and often times depressing.

Betty could be kind of whiny. "Kitten" too. I don't know why the show strikes a chord with me, maybe because its such a good example of 50s nostalgia. A The Best of FKB would work for me. And I'm always happy to see serious fans of any show get good DVD sets for their enjoyment. I liked Marge, Jim and Bud though--who all had personalites that were more upbeat--even pleasant.
