Was there ever an episode where they discussed moving into the second house?

They changed studios beginning with season three, that's why they're in a different house. I know they made references to their "moving" in some of the early season three episodes, I don't believe the subject of moving was mentioned during the second season.

BEAVER'S TREE is an early third season episode where Beaver and Larry go to Beaver's old house to dig up a tree Beaver planted when the family was living there. Beaver's dad gave him the tree, Beaver thought the tree was still his and he wanted it back. Silly kid stuff, but a cute story. This series was full of good episodes with a lesson in life learned and a moral to the story.

There were several eps in season 2 where Ward and June talked about going out to look at houses. I can't remember which ones, though. There was one ep where Ward said somebody made an offer on their house and wanted to include a pick-up truck as part of the deal.

You may be right, I have to watch the second season episodes on the DVD and see in which ones they talk about moving to a new house.

I was watching the episode titled FOUND MONEY, and early in the episode they do talk about moving. So yes Judge you are correct about the Cleavers discussing moving in some second season episodes. It's familiar to me now, I haven't seen the 2nd season eps in a while and I had forgot about them mentioning moving in some of the shows.

I wonder if at the time they knew they were going to a new studio the following season and that's why they mentioned moving to a new house several times. Strange. How could they even be sure the series was going to be renewed the following season?

Ive been by the Cleaver house when I was on a Universal Studios tour back in the 80's. I remember them saying that the house was also used for Father Knows Best. However, I don't know which house it was; the first or second. In a few episodes I was watching today, I noticed that neighbors who dropped by were complimenting the Cleavers on their new house.

wow--what an old thread of mine

hmmm, the houses (exterior wise) didn't look alike--FKB and LITB's first house.
Wouldn't FKB have been located on the old Columbia (now Warner) Ranch?

If there was, I don't remember it.

The SECOND Cleaver house was supposedly the one used in 'Marcus Welby MD'. Maybe you're getting your Robert Young shows mixed up.

I really don't know which house was used for which series. Those tour guides on the Universal Studios tour will say anything to amuse gullible tourists! :p

Isn't the later house used in Desperate Housewives. Looks a tad different but a much the same.

I've seen both "Cleaver houses" quite a number of times on other television shows. Not many years ago it was clearly seen on the show Providence, as the one next door to where the action takes place (where Mike Farrell played a veteranarian who worked out of his basement). However, in general, I don't watch new shows, hardly at all, or I would probably have more examples in recent history.

But the first house is in a series of episodes from the latter years of My Three Sons. I think it's the next-to-final season, when Chip Douglas starts going with a girl named Polly, who has a father that is so strict and suspicious and possessive of her that the couple finally elope. Polly's house is shown, and it is clearly the first Cleaver house, painted blue. Although we don't see color in LITB, it is a fair assumption that the house then is supposed to be green, as that was the color they were painting the garage door in "The Garage Painters."

Incidentally, I know of a house in my town that smacks of the design of that first house-- not exactly a 'twin,,' of course, but you would think it looks familiar.

The house that is on Desperate Housewives was built for the 1997 LITB movie and it not the original TV show house. The style and number of windows is similar, but it is a very different house.

The original LITB house is still on the backlot, but moved far away from the neigborhood street that it was once on (now used for Desperate Housewives). I saw the original house show up (in the background) on an episode of CSI a couple years ago.

There were several episodes that had June and Ward out looking at new houses. And there's even an episode that had Wally and Beaver talking about how they'll have their own rooms.

LITB moved from CBS to ABC. So on the show they had the family moving to a new house.

They briefly mentioned it would mean the boys got their own rooms, and they certainly had the space, but the show needed them to interact, so they shared a room in the new house.

I've been watching season 3, and there has been casual references to the fact they are in a new house, so I decided to go back and watch the last disc of season 2. In the last few episodes, the Cleavers are discussing selling the house and moving, and the very last ep. of season 2, Ward & June announce to the boys, they sold the house, and put a bid down on the new one.

The network switch occurred after the first season, unrelated to the studio switch after the second.

It is weird that they don't show any signs of moving. In the last episode of season 2, they announce they are moving, then in the beginning of season 3, they're all settled in the new house as if they had been there for monthes.

Until I got the complete series, I didn't even know the Cleavers lived in two different houses! But not that I'm aware of it, I certainly notice the differences.

I have been to Universal in Hollywood more then once. It was so fun taking the tour of the whole Universal back lot. Yeah a lot of shows was shot on the same street The Beaver house was on at Universal.Yeah where The Beaver's house was at is called "Anytown USA"
Yeah also The Tom Hank's movie The Burbs was shot on that same street where The Beavers house was at.
I know there was a few episodes of The Incredible Hulk shot on that street as well. Yeah there are tons of Incredible Hulk episodes that was shot on the same town square that was used in The Back to The Future movies.

We do get to see The Cleavers first house in the 3rd season episode "Beaver's Tree." Where Beaver goes back to the old house to get back his old tree, that June and Ward gave to Beaver for a birthday present one year.

Any thought of the boys getting their "own rooms" never happened in the new house. They are shown as having the same bedroom after the move there, but there was a guest room in the new house which each of them used when the other had a guest spending the night.

I use to shair a bedroom with one of my brothers when I was little. But we did not have are own private bathroom thoe.
As time went on and we got older we both wanted are independence from each other. Then my day cleaned out the guest bedroom of the house and gave the room to me.

I can't believe in both houses the boys had their own private bathroom. Wouldn't you think Ward & June would have the bedroom with the bathroom?

For all we know Ward and June don't even have a bedroom. All we ever see is a door from which we occasionally see Ward or June exit!

Ward and June have a bedroom with a bathroom in that episode where Beaver lets the hobo come in and take a bath.

Ward and June have a master bathroom. Like Judgegarth postes, we see it in the hobo episode.
