Sadly, Nick at Nite is done airing shows from the '80s. They've moved on to the '90s, and now even the present. What "modern" shows do you want on Nick at Nite? (Excluding Family Matters, The Nanny, and Friends, since they're on their way).

Saved By The Bell
Blossom
Step By Step
Boy Meets World
Sister, Sister
That 70's Show
Reba
8 Simple Rules (weekends only)

I'm starting to feel old now that N@N is starting to air '90's sitcoms!

But I think they should air:

Saved by the Bell
Blossom
Sister, Sister
Living Single
I would say Martin, but the show might be to raunchy for N@N.

I would like Step by Step, Seinfeld, That 70s Show, Coach (what happened to that, didnt they have a few years ago)

BMW only if they play the eps in order otherwise its confusing/annoying

LOL! Don't feel old...They're airing George Lopez now, for god sakes!

I agree, Martin would be a little "raunchy" for their channel. I would also love for Married...With Children and Unhappily...Ever After to air on TV more, but I know they aren't very fitting for Nick at Nite.

And I originally had Living Single on my list, but I think it would bomb, and be yanked from their schedule after 2 weeks. It wouldn't do well with Nick at Nite's family oriented programming. All the shows they had that weren't about an actual blood family, pretty much bombed (A Different World, Murphy Brown, Newsradio, Coach, Designing Women, etc).

And I'm glad a few of you agree with me about Blossom. It needs to come back to syndication!!!

I have a feeling they will try to take advantage of shows about friends, when "Friends" becomes a huge hit for the network in 2011. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Seinfeld and That 70's Show ended up on Nick at Nite soon after Friends gets there.

And yes, they had Coach in the summer of 2002, I believe. It didn't do too well, and was shoved to 4 or 5am for a little while, then was taken off the network not long after that.

What gets me mad is that Nick at Nite and TVLand are supposed to be showing classic tv shows and then they are just going to start showing the more recent shows when we can see those on all the other channels. I mean Friends, That 70s Show, Seinfeld they are already on other channels and they aren't really classic shows. Friends is played so much anyways. Why can't Nick at Nite just show classic tv. That is going to suck. Well, at least they are coming out on dvd, so we can watch them when nothing is on TV.

Because networks evolve...Things don't always stay the same...

...Though it is rediculous that they now air a show that was on in primetime TV in 2007.

I posted on here a few years ago; when N@N "sold out"; that they'll probably start showing it; and I meant it in a sarcastic way. But now; they're actually gonna do it!!! That just ended it's run on NBC a couple years ago!!
What's next, "SIENFELD" & "THAT 70s SHOW"?? (I also mean that to be sarcastic; but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they do start showing those).

Well good call! LOL

Yep, Friends is coming to Nick at Nite in 2011. They're supposedly paying HUGE bucks for it too...So you can bet it will be one of their most played out shows, of all time....I honestly do think Seinfeld and That 70's Show will end up there in a few years too. And Friends ending a couple of years ago is still 5x better than a show that ended up on Nick at Nite, that ended this year! (George Lopez)

But Friends is nowhere near family-oriented, whcih is what NAN is aiming for nowadays. I knows they made the deal with Friends before they completely switched to family shows, which is why I wasn't sure if it's still coming.

I wonder if Friends will go to TV Land also. Seems fitting for their 'anything goes' approach. Same for The Nanny, especially. I predict that won't even air on N@N.

I mean, with Designing Women, Scrubs, Mad About You and Murphy Brown, which were all for N@N (Scrubs never even aired) going to TV Land after only a short airing time on the network, it seems logical.

I agree with you. I know that networks evolve, but still. They can stick to classic shows. I don't want them to become like the other channels that air all those shows that are trash. Kids need to be influenced by classic tv shows.

I don't really want to see Friends on N@N. Its already on TBS and I know that its super popular, but its not a family show and its not something that younger kids should see. I didn't see that show until I was like 13 or 14.
It just makes me sad that they can't stick with classic shows.

Anyways, if I have to choose what 90s shows i would want to see on Nick at Nite I would choose Step by Step and Family Matters.

Well Family Matters is coming in 6 months, and The Nanny is coming in 2009. I know we'll probably be sick of Family Matters by 2009, but I'm not too sure if The Nanny will be a hit on Nick at Nite. By the time Friends gets there, Family Matters and The Nanny will be old news.

If "Friends" is successful for N@N than i wouldn't be surprised if in a short time after that they start showing "Will & Grace" another successful NBC show from the 1990's about a group of "Friends"

The Nanny is gonna be just like Mad About You and Designing Women. They'll air it in primetime for awhile, then air at 5am, then take it off altogether. Family Matters, on the other hand, i see being a big hit for the network. They really should have picked the show up earlier.

I'd like to see TVland & N@N go back to programming mostly the classic
50s, 60s, 70s & 80s sitcoms - the shows that you can't find anywhere else on TV. I don't get any cable channels showing Blossom, The Bob Newhart Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, etc. I can see Step By Step & Family Matters on the ABC Family Channel.....MASH is still playing on several channels, too.

Most of the posts to the message board on TVland's thread about programming are people complaining about taking away the classics. They run wall-to-wall Gunsmoke & Bonanza most of the time.

I'm not too sure about The Nanny. It may appeal to the Nick at Nite viewers because of the kids, but then again, it probably won't even be given the chance to find an all new generation of fans. We all know how Nick at Nite treats their shows if they aren't instant ratings winners.

I'm kind of shocked they waited this long to get Family Matters. It would have been a great pairing with Full House all this time....Maybe they'll get Step By Step, and pair it with Family Matters. I'm not only saying they should get Step By Step because I LOVE it, but because I really think it's what Nick at Nite fans would like (especially the Full House and Family Matters viewers).

They really should have picked up Family Matters around the same time as Roseanne and Full House. Since all 3 shows premiered just 1 year after each other (FH '87, R '88, FM '89), they were all highly rated, and all from ABC, they would have meshed well together. But, there's nothing we can do now.

The Nanny was never that popular of a show. I love it to death, and cannot wait until February 2009, but I believe it was only a top 20 show for 2 seasons, plus it's last 2 seasons were quite lowly rated (it's last season was put on hiatus in the middle of the season), plus it may not have the 18-35 demographic NAN is looking for.

The Nanny was never that popular of a show. .

yes it was. it was a top 10 show in the 1994-1995 season, top 20 in the 1996-1997 season and never left the top 40 the entire time it was on the air. When it moved to Monday's it routinely beat Melrose Place (it's timeslot competition, which at the time was very popular) in the key demos and since entering syndication has proven to be a big hit.

I think it'll do well; it'll work well w/Roseanne and Full House.

Whoa!...I didn't know all of that, but I do remember The Nanny being a popular show. It had a long run in the '90s on my local FOX affiliate, before it became a hit on the Lifetime network.

But like Roseanne8897 said, it might not connect with the Nick at Nite demographic.

I don't think it would go together with Full House, but it would work well with Roseanne...BUT I'm sure those 2 will be gone by the time The Nanny gets there.

To keep the record straight, here are the ratings for The Nanny:
Season 1: out of top 30
Season 2: #24 (tied with Full House)
Season 3: #17 (coincidently, Roseanne was #16, Murphy Brown was #18)
Season 4: #39
Season 5: out of top 50
Season 6: out of top 50

For it's last season, it was put on hiatus in February, and aired it's final episodes in June and July. So, it was never as popular as shows like Roseanne, Home Improvement, and Murphy Brown, which is why I cannot see it doing that well on NAN.

I would say Sister, Sister - but WGN is running it now. I always enjoyed Thunder Alley with Ed Asner and Haley Joel Osment - and I think it would fit in with N@N. All-American Girl would be fun, too.

But still for it's first three seasons it didn'g leave the top 40 shows on television and in it's fourth it was still top 40. That's not bad... i really think it'll do well on N@N it will play to the same audience that watches Full House, Roseanne and Fresh Prince, imho...

It fits the mordern classics theme much more than George Lopez or Friends does and appeals to the same family friendly audience.

I love the Nanny to death. I would love to see it do well on NAN. But, facing facts here, it just isn't going to do well. It has that same type appeal that Mad About You and Designing Women has, and we all know how well those did on the network. If anything, it'll air for a month at 10pm, then off to 5am it goes

Friends doesn't appeal to family audience, but it is a popular show, and will probably do well on the network. But, it's too had to tell. That's still almost 4 years away.

Just my 2 cents: I think GL fits in with the other (primarily ABC) sitcoms Nick has been showing from the 80s and early 90s. Even though it debuted in 2002, it runs similarily with those that came out in 87 or 88. ABC sitcoms didn't change a bunch in appearance for many years.

I'm guessing during the next 4 years, Friends will die down in syndication a little. If Nick at Nite were smart (I said "if"), they should try to get some kind of deal where TBS and others can't show the show for a while, so it's at least a little bit on the fresh side when it gets to their network.

And George Lopez was cancelled in May 2007....Yes, Nick at Nite is airing a show that was on the air 4 months ago.
