As you may or may not know, Jackie originally signed on to produce 78 half-hour episodes of The Honeymooners (two seasons worth), but pulled the plug after only 39. If he had decided to continue the series for a second season, what would you have liked to have seen? Do you think it would have been as good as the first season? Jackie didn't seem to think so, which is the main reason he decided not to do it. I think some of the later Lost Episodes (from the 1956-1957 season), like "My Fair Landlord," "Finders Keepers," and "Catch A Star," along with the '57 Europe episodes, would've been pretty much the same, considering the same writers would've been working on the scripts, but I don't know about some of those shorter ones like "Forgot To Register" and "Check Up"...I couldn't really see those working as half-hour shows. But even if all the Lost Episodes from that season were used for a second Honeymooners season, that would still only add up to 20 episodes, leaving 19 more to go.
I would've loved to have seen what new storylines the writers would've come up with. I always thought 1957's "Manager Of The Baseball Team" was a pretty dull way to end things...Ralph thinking he's going to be made manager of the bus company, only to find out that he's actually been made manager of the company baseball team. Even though The Honeymooners was brought back to life again after that, that was the last time Jackie, Art, Audrey & Joyce did it together...and the last episode that was done in the 50's, but it didn't even show any signs of being a final episode. I think "Songwriters" would've been the perfect finale, with Ralph actually succeeding for a change...
