The Mertz' apartment (3A). If the Ricardos lived directly above them (4A), then there must have been an upper hallway because the stairs lead away from the Mertzes.

The Ricardo's second apartment (3D). If the Ricardos lived down the hall from the Mertzes, why would they both live next to the stairway? Where is the Ricardo's living room window? I also think this door is on the wrong wall to be the Ricardo's. The door should be turned 90 degrees from this one, on the same wall as the kitchen door.

How could they share the same third floor balcony? They would have to live side by side, but the hallway isn't set up like that. Besides, what about apartments 3B and 3C?

In season one, Ethel tells the bum to get off the property and they are on the ground floor!

I remember some discussion a while ago about the hallway and the vacant apartment in the Superman one. Nothing makes sense; maybe the writers didn't care about that part.

Maybe the architect that designed the building was the same one who designed Roseanne's house. That house doesn't makes sense either (upstairs).

The first time I seen Fred go left in the hallway in that Madame X episode, that is where my confusion started. I must have been 9 years old when I seen that episode and caught that goof. I had seen the episode so many times by then, but when I seen him do that I was like, "How can he go left when the window is right there?"

Yep. I know what you mean! Also in "The Courtroom" Ricky and Lucy drag the TV set downstairs from the right of the Mertz' door. When Fred wants revenge and runs out to kick in the Ricardo's TV, he turns the opposite way down the hall.

Notice, Fred is the common denominator here?  He gave it all away!

Maybe the smelly odors from his greasy living room affected his brain. Another symptom of inhaling tacky furniture fumes is excessive shaking of the hands.

Someone should post a pic of the building that was used for an exterior shot when they go to California.

You can actually see where the backdrop and where the studio floor meet. That is as phony as the Jimmy Demerat background of the park.

Dang! I didn't think it would be so noticeable. Now we can see that all the pics don't match up to what the Apartment is suppose to look like.

OH Nuts!

Love the many great observations about the oddities of the apts!:)

And of course the address 623 E. 68 doesn't exist! The E. side goes up to the 500's...placing the apt....in the E. River!!...or maybe possibly Roosevelt Is.
