View Full Version : Which character do you most hate?
likewow 09-15-2007, 01:06 PM I nominate Carol. She is so awful! First, she goes out with Jody, knowing he is gay. Then she whines and cries to get him into bed with her. After she gets pregnant, she leaves him at the altar. Then she dumps her baby with her mother to run off with a guy. When Jody takes custody of the baby she takes him to court. She gets her mother to lie on the stand, and when she loses in court she kidnaps the baby! She never shows remorse and is charm-free. Yuck!
Who drives you crazy on Soap?
comedyfreak 02-28-2008, 09:48 AM I'd have to agree and say Carol for those reasons.
likewow 02-28-2008, 06:49 PM Thanks for your response :)
Actually, this might be a hard question to answer. Most of the "villains" on the show had some redeeming characteristic. For example, Ingrid Swenson was so over the top in her loathing, and her accent, that it would be hard to dislike her.
Miss Lisa 02-29-2008, 09:20 PM I actually didn't like Ingrid Swenson. I mean he woman gets her child taken away from her but doesn't even bother to ask how Corrine was doing until she found out that she was in jail and then that accent of her's. I'm sorry but her accent did bother me. But I do have to admit that the show did need her.
Carol was indeed a serious cow.
I couldn't stand El Pratto or whatever his name was.
likewow 12-12-2008, 05:24 PM :) Yeah, El Puerco really drove the show off a cliff. What an awful storyline, right up there with Chester running around with Eunice's bridesmaid.
Season 4, oy!

El Puerco should have run off with ME and not Jessica. :eyes:  Gregory Sierra was a TOTAL hottie.
Skywalker 05-20-2012, 05:12 PM I can't really say I hate any of the characters, but the one I like the least is Eunice. She doesn't add much to the show and she's never funny, IMO. The rest of the characters, for the most part, are great!
likewow 05-21-2012, 02:39 PM Interesting! I hadn't thought of Eunice that way before. Her first storyline, the affair with the married politician, wasn't connected to any other main characters, so she was kind of adrift right at the start. And the way she got sick of Dutch so suddenly made her seem unsympathetic.

I just watched the season 3 episode where Dutch finds out Eunice is cheating on him and he dumps a pot full of oatmeal on her head. Dutch is starting to become one of my favorite characters!
likewow 05-22-2012, 08:05 PM That scene is the first one I thought of when I read your previous post! The look on Eunice's face when Jessica starts talking about clowns

Agree about El and the whole 4th Season. Sigh....
mets82 07-15-2013, 06:11 PM I'll go with Carol and Ingrid. Very shady on both parts what they did. Carol just tried to hurt Jodie, who was a good guy. Same goes with Ingrid and the Tates. She just wanted to hurt the Tates.
I will say, believe or not, Jessica, got on my nerves sometimes. Remember when she went on trial for killing Peter. It's like she had no idea what was going on. YOUR ON TRIAL FOR MURDER!! At least try to take it seriously. And plus, some of her stories just rambled on and on.

I loved Ingrid HA!! The one I didn't like was Carol. She knew Jody was gay and pursued him anyway.

I loved Ingrid, too! Great evil character and EXCELLENT actress. She was a very funny character with which other cast memebers could make fun of, and Jessica really played off her very well. She should have made many visits to the show, causing havoc on the characters, only for the characters to overcome her evil obstacles.
El is the one I could not stand.
likewow 07-16-2013, 03:13 PM Ingrid: "You think I'm finish'?"
Jessica: "No, Swedish!"

One of the FUNNIEST quotes on the whole show!!!!!
Kate From CT 03-02-2015, 10:17 PM Carol, She was a straight up, slutty witch.
Eunice: Shallow cheat.
Leslie Walker: Psychotic cradle robber.
mets82 03-03-2015, 04:52 PM I think Carol was hated the most. And how can you not hate her after what she did.
burtnmary 09-27-2015, 11:08 PM Ingrid: "You think I'm finish'?"
Jessica: "No, Swedish!"
LOL!!!! One of my FAVORITE scenes in the whole series!!!! Just great!
HATED El Puerco. Hated most of season 4. Major character assassination of many beloved characters.
likewow 09-29-2015, 01:26 PM Yes, indeed! Maybe we should also discuss which character was most let down by the writing? But, don't get me wrong, 'Soap' is one of the best written shows ever.
mets82 09-29-2015, 04:28 PM Forgot about Ingrid. She was mean too. You know its funny. Eunice was very shallow but I thought she was hotter than Corinne. But when Eunice cut her hair, that was it for me. Didnt find her hot anymore.
likewow 10-01-2015, 03:32 PM They did write Eunice as being very shallow in season three, and insincere. Seasons 1 and 2, she was slightly aloof, but insecure, and likable.
burtnmary 10-05-2015, 09:14 AM I loved Eunice until she started treating Dutch badly. WHY did the writers do this? WHY? Dutch/Eunice were a FANTASTIC couple. There could have been so many other directions to go in with Dutch and Eunice. Also, I wonder if Sal Viscuso, Tim Flotsky, wanted off the show? I loved Corinne and Tim.
likewow 10-05-2015, 03:10 PM That's right! With years to tell stories at their chosen pace, the writers were too quick to separate couples and dump characters. Imagine a scene where the young couples of Danny & Elaine, Dutch & Eunice, and Tim & Corrine went out for dinner. Think of all the possible dialogue there!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Danny and Elaine. I actually loved all the original cast and couple so much. Darn it, I even loved Jody and Carol AT FIRST. Just because there seemed to be genuine caring there between the two of them. Burt and Mary were the best. I LOVED Jessica and Chester. Chester was a hound dog. But..he did love Jessica.
likewow 10-07-2015, 07:15 PM The change in Carol's attitude and behavior was very abrupt. I didn't buy the season four storyline at all, with her kidnapping Wendy and going on the run to all those weird locations. It's impossible to picture Rebecca Balding on screen doing that.
Selena_Armada 05-28-2016, 01:41 AM I can't really say I hate any of the characters, but the one I like the least is Eunice. She doesn't add much to the show and she's never funny, IMO. The rest of the characters, for the most part, are great!
IN fact I keep forgetting about Eunice..........like that she exists in the show...
EUNICE and Carol are my least ...they kinda look similar like the twins in the show with no plot ... even tho they are not twins. honorable mention: ...................................... INGA SWENSON . god that voice is annoying.....and she is just.... ughhhh I do not like how she talks down to Jessica
Definitely in agreement with you on this.:D :D :D
Ohio8 11-01-2016, 05:09 PM Chester Tate.
PennyCL 12-13-2016, 08:56 AM Carol. I hate what she did with Jody.
I don't like Eunice either, it wasn't cool see her cheating on Dutch.
Svenfan1234 02-22-2018, 10:56 PM Elaine. HATE her. Also, agree with Carol. She deserved to be killed off too.
Jagger1966 03-11-2018, 10:30 PM Here's another vote for Carol. I also hate the El Pureco character in season 4. As for Eunice, I liked her, but for whatever reason in season 3 she started sporting a short new haircut and was turned into a pretty nasty character overnight! Made no sense.

I have to say Eunice was most assassinated by the writers. She was fine with Walter, and was a good, lovable character. She and Dutch ROCKED. I loved the good girl/bad boy vibe of those two. WHY did this character get ruined? For what reason? I will never understand it.

Well said! Thanks for all your comments, Soap fans. They are right on!

He was very sinful! The writers did make him somewhat human at times.
Yes, Eunice, while having an attitude, was more likable with the longer hair. Once the haircut came, the persona changed along with the hair.
I didn't like El Puerco much, either- then again, there are other things i didn't like too much with the fourth season.
Elaine was overbearing, though she was likable at the end. Susan Harris said she hated to kill her off, but it had to be done for the story.
likewow 02-23-2021, 03:03 PM I agree about Eunice, and the fourth season. I wish Elaine hadn't been killed right when she found happiness. I bet there were other storylines she and Danny could have had.
KatieAnn 06-11-2021, 10:22 PM First character that came to mind was Carol, then Ingrid then Eunice.
Chuck was a hateful character, too. He was constantly insulting people through the Bob doll. I'm watching season 2 now and so far I don't think I've seen one good quality in that character. I don't know if that changes later, but he's pretty terrible to everyone. Nicest thing I can say about him is that he's crazy.
likewow 06-12-2021, 05:47 PM Yes, I know Chuck/Bob was supposed to be outrageous and funny, but you make a good point. He's very mean spirited. He did soften once baby Wendy came along.
