September 14, 2007 -- Vanessa Hudgens, the "High School Musical" star who is caught up in a nude-photo scandal, canceled her appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" at the last minute last night.

The show and the 18-year-old star's press reps declined to give a reason.

But it seemed obvious that Hudgens is not ready yet to talk publicly about the nude photos of her that hit the Internet last week.

She apologized for the incident at the time and said she is "embarrassed over this situation."

But the prospect of answering questions about it on national TV may have been too much for the young star to handle right now.

Last July, Lindsay Lohan ducked out of a similar Leno appearance after her latest DUI arrest.

I was looking forward to seeing her too, to hear the truth behind the whole scandal. I think she just has to face the situation and tell everyone what's really going on, instead of covering it up all the time.

I was shocked that Disney is standing behind her, but people must realize that Vanessa Hudgens is their bread and butter. if any scandal hits any other High School Musicial cast, you better believe Disney will stand behind them 100%, they don't want to lose their 'cash cows'.

Vanessa is probably right to lay low for a while. This wil blow over shortly, since there seems to be an abundance of Hollywood starlets out there willing to do silly things that grab the media's attention.

As for whether Disney is indeed "standing by" Miss Hudgens, I will believe that when I see her in "High School Musical 3."

To be honest, Vanessa doesn't need Disney. Vanessa is at a place where she can branch out and become a 'it' girl. I'm pretty sure if Vanessa doesn't get re-cast in HSM 3 her career won't be over. There is a ton of the MTV crowd that likes Vanessa, she'll be the next Lindsay Lohan minus the drug problems.

I hope her Boyfriend does not break up with her
