Setting: Chicago townhouse. Jo is with her 6 year-old son, Brice, 4-year-old daughter, Bridget Marie, and 2-year-old daughter, Annie May. They're out in the frontyard, playing. Mid-Afternoon, Sunday.
Jo: "Annie May, do you feel like using the potty yet?"
Annie May silently shakes her head no.
Jo: "Okay. Well, let me check on your brother and sister."
Brice is chasing Bridget Marie around, trying to squirt her with his water gun. Bridget Marie: "Mommy! Mommy! Brice is chasing me!"
Jo: "Brice Lawrence Bonner, you stop that now, before I count to three!"
Brice: "I have to get Bridget wet!"
Jo: "You don't have to get her wet, now you stop that! That Jason boy next door is gonna be sorry!"
Bridget Marie:"Tell that, shrimp face to stop chasing me!"
Jo: "You don't call him shrimp face."
Brice laughs at her.
Jo: "And YOU, don't start chasing her. Remember when you stuck glue in Jessica's hair ribbons? No Internet for two weeks."
Annie May: "It's time!"
Jo: "Are you ready to use the potty, Annie May?"
She nods.
Jo: "Let's go."
Suddenly, the phone rings.
Jo: "Annie May, we will use it in a few minutes, okay?"
She nods.
Jo runs to the kitchen with Annie May in her arms and picks up the phone.
Jo: "Hello?"
Blair is at her home in New York, giving her four-year-old daughter, Lizzie, her juice.
Blair: "Hello, Jo?"
Jo (nearly drops the phone):"Blair?"
Blair (sounding intense): "Yeah."
Jo: "Hi. I haven't heard from you in almost 8 years, how ya been?"
Blair: "I've been fine...sort of..."
(starts to cry)
Jo: "Blair? What is it?"

Jo: "Blair, you can trust me. We're adults now. I can take anything from you."
Blair(slightly better):"Okay. Well... I was at the doctor with my daughter, Michelle, who'll be 12 soon. And she hasn't been well for a while. And I just found out...she has luekemia."
Jo: "Oh God, that's tough."
Blair begins crying again.

I just found out, I have to go again. I'm going to Taco Bell with my mom, brother, and sister for lunch. But I'll be back later! I'm sorry!

Blair: "You don't understand Jo. Michelle has a deadly disease, something that could kill her! And not only that, I also have three other kids to raise, plus my husband Blaine, and Hope."
Jo: "Who's Hope?"
Blair: "My younger half-sister. She's 13, and completely rebellious. Dad and Sylvia are on a business trip, so they asked me to take care of her. Along with Michelle, May, and Lizzie. She reminds me of you as a teenager."
Jo: "I always knew I had something."
Blair: "Don't joke about it, Jo. Hope is into drugs. She took Ecstasy so many times, I'm surprised she's still walking. She smokes too. Bigtime. My home is becoming an ashtray."
Jo: "Well, I'm sorry Blair. Didn't know it was that bad."
Brice and Bridget Marie run into the kitchen, yelling.
Brice: "Mom, Bridget Marie stole my Pokemon cards!"
Bridget Marie: "I did not! I was just borrowing them!"
Jo: "Could you hold on a minute?"
Blair: "Sure."
Jo (to the kids): "Will you two stop fighting? I'm on the phone!"
Jessica: "Mom, I'm home!"
Jo: "I'm on the phone right now, Jess! Put a movie in for Brice and Bridget upstairs. Where's Alexz?"
Jessica: "Still at the park playing soccer! I can't believe she does that!"
Jo: "Just go upstairs!"
Jo talks again to Blair.
Jo: "I'm sorry. Ever since Rick's been in CA, I've had to try keeping the kids under control. I'll be glad when he gets back."

Blair: "I've been planning to talk to Natalie and Tootie...excuse me, Dorothy... Mrs. Garrett or Gaines, and Beverly Ann, and it seems we both have problems too hot to handle."
Jo: "I know! It's strange. I've been trying to keep things together, you have been trying to keep things together. I hope we can see each other soon."
Blair: "That's why I was calling. I was hoping you and your family could come to New York, along with everybody else, and have a semi-reunion, when Michelle enters the hospital."
Jo: "I'd love to see you again, but I have to wait until Rick gets back, which I think will be in at least a week."
Blair: "That's fine!"
Jo: "Well, I better go now, I've got screaming rugrats to worry about."
Blair (laughs): "Okay. I'd better go too. Lizzie's waiting on me to feed her."
Jo: "Nice talking to you."
Blair: "Thanks. Bye."
Jo: "Bye."
They hang up.
Blair (to Lizzie): "Oh, Lizzie, life is a cycle, I know. You sister is sick, and I maybe seeing my old friends soon because of it. Life is weird, isn't it?"
