-M*A*S*H Mail Call
Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11, 2007
9:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. ET/PT both nights
The members of 4077 maintained contact with the outside world through letters. Characters would write letters to their loved ones, thereby becoming the narrators for those episodes. They were shown the love as well during “mail call,” where they would receive letters – some good, some bad, but all funny!

Saturday, November 10
9p #12 – Dear Dad
Hawkeye writes home, describing Christmas in Korea: Radar ships a jeep home, a piece at a time; Henry gives the monthly lecture on sex, with the aid of figure A and figure B; Trapper helps deliver a calf; Klinger and Frank get into a fight, but Father Mulcahy smoothes things over; Hawkeye and Trapper sabotage Margaret's tent; Hawkeye flies to the front line dressed as Santa, to help a wounded soldier.
9:30p #18 – Dear Dad, Again
Once again, Hawkeye writes home to his father, telling him of the latest gossip: the camp gets a new surgeon, who turns out to be a fake; Hawkeye bets he can walk into the mess tent naked for lunch, and no one will notice; Radar cheats on his final exam from the High School diploma company; Margaret rejects Franks advances and he gets drunk late into the night; the camp have a no talent night.
10p #33 – Dear Dad, Three
Once more Hawkeye writes home to his father: the doctors operate on a soldier with a grenade shot into his body; Hawkeye and Trapper colour the skin of a racist patient, who demanded the right colour blood, while he is asleep; Henry gets a movie of his daughters birthday from home; the officers hold the monthly staff meeting.
10:30p #60 – A Full Rich Day
Hawkeye records a letter to his dad, detailing the exploits of a mad Turkish soldier who calls Hawkeye a "damn good Joe," the unfortunate loss of the corpse of a Luxembourg soldier (who turns out not to be dead), Lt. Henri-Batiste LeClerc, and of a gun-happy officer.
11p #80 – Dear Mildred
It's Potter's anniversary. While Potter writes home, Frank and Hot Lips have a wood carving made for him, and Radar rescues a horse and makes him a present of it.
11:30p #83 – Dear Peggy
B.J. writes home to his wife, Peg, reporting Klinger's escape attempts, the visit of a formidable chaplain, and one of Frank's goof-ups.
12a #89 – Dear Ma
Radar writes home to his mother, as Hawkeye conducts the camp foot inspection, and Colonel Potter gets some shrapnel in his backside.
12:30a #162 – Dear Sis
Father Mulcahy writes a pre-Christmas letter to his sister, who is a nun. He recounts his frustrations at not being more effective at the 4077th.
1a #185 – Dear Uncle Abdul
Klinger discovers that his duties as company clerk include catering to the eccentric whims of the 4077th officers. Consequently, the unusual demands by Klinger's superiors leave little time to write a letter home to Toledo. Meanwhile, the Doctors are concerned about a young soldier who appears to be mentally deficient.

Sunday, November 11
9p #47 – Mail Call
The arrival of a new batch of mail leaves Trapper depressed, and thinking of desertion, despite Hawkeye's efforts to dissuade him. Meanwhile, Hawkeye learns that he has successfully tricked Frank into buying stocks in a fictitious company, Pioneer Aviation.
9:30p #87 – Mail Call Again
Mail brings a letter to Frank saying his wife is divorcing him, and one to Potter telling him he's going to be a grandfather.
10p #143 – Mail Call Three
After a delay of three weeks, five sacks of mail arrive, and everyone in camp reacts to good and bad news from home. Hawkeye receives love letters addressed to another Benjamin Pierce, another man has approached B.J.'s wife, and Radar's mom has found a boyfriend.
10:30p #105 – Dear Sigmund
Sidney Freedman, feeling depressed, visits the 4077th to observe how they fare under the pressures of war. He begins a letter to Sigmund Freud as a form of self-therapy, and releases his tension in the form of a practical joke with B.J., aimed at Frank Burns.
11p #223 - Give Em Hell Hawkeye
Hawkeye writes a heartfelt letter to President Harry Truman to protest at the continued fighting in Korea. Meanwhile, Colonel Ditka has promised a much-needed water-heater if the 4077th beautifies the camp.
11:30p #128 – The Winchester Tapes
Sidney Freedman, feeling depressed, visits the 4077th to observe how they fare under the pressures of war. He begins a letter to Sigmund Freud as a form of self-therapy, and releases his tension in the form of a practical joke with B.J., aimed at Frank Burns
12a #200 – Letters
Members of the 4077th share their impressions of war in response to letters from fourth graders in Hawkeye's hometown.
12:30a #159 – Dear Comrade
Hawkeye and B.J. discover that Charles is living the life of Riley, thanks to the attentions of his menially paid Korean servant, Comrade Park, a man of unusual skills. He has an important contribution to make - a native remedy for a seemingly insoluble medical problem.
1a #217 – The Forsight Saga
The 4077th is given a gift of fresh-grown vegetables by a grateful Korean; and Potter questions the veracity of an upbeat letter from Radar

what happend to knight rider
Yeah, whatever happened to giving Knight Rider a chance? They only had it on for 11 days so far, and already they've decided to get rid of it next month? Reminds me of Nick at Nite. But apart from that, it looks like a good schedule.

I hate the retrospective episodes of Little House on the Prairie. :puke: Why not just a marathon of regular episodes?

Good choice of M*A*S*H episodes for a marathon. The "mail" themed episodes were always very well done.

Definitely liking that Cheers will be on twice a day Mon-Fri except on Monday. I just wish they'd stop airing so much Gunsmoke and Bonanza.

That is a TON of sitcoms - yay!

And what is with the "I Love Lucy" overload? I'm certainly not complaining but it looked like that show was thrown to the wolves awhile back and now has an EVENING slot? Awesome!

can't wait until the day when the good times contract expiresI agree...and Sanford and Son. At least Three's Company isn't on much anymore.

It'll be interesting to see if this exact schedule happens. I'm skeptical about how DW will do....it's not on much, but if it doesn't do that great I wonder if they'll go through with that prime time marathon.

Not meaning to sound like a wet blanket but here comes a rant.
TV Lands all over the board and constantly changing schedule makes it really hard to record or even watch any good quantity of their shows. It seems like they add and take away shows at the drop of a hat and change their schedules almost on a weekly basis. Can't they just stick to a set schedule for several months at a time?Is that too much to ask considering some of the horrible, non classic shows the have added over the last 5 or 6 years?I just about give up with them.TV Land pay attention!(not that it matters what I think to them).Get some consistency and add SOME of the older 50's and 60's shows.Even if you have to add the older shows to the wee hours of the morning because you are afraid they wont get the ratings from the 25 to 30 year olds you pander to,then fine.At least they can be recorded and watched at a convenient time. What would it hurt to at least do that?Everyones in bed anyway so no matter what you put on in the wee hours of the morning,it won't get ratings anyway.I'm guessing it would cost them too much to get the rights to the older shows.I used to watch TV Land alot but that has greatly diminished over the years.I guess since I'm not 25 years old,I and who they targeted when the first started their channel don't matter to them anymore.Talk about a good channel and concept gone wrong.

It's a pretty good schedule . . . definitely a step up from August and September. Looks like sitcoms are dominating the schedule. I'm really hoping someday TVLand switches entirely to sitcoms. The only shows not sitcoms on the schedule are Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Star Trek. But, all afternoon, primetime, and latenight is sitcoms.

besides that, as much as i love Lucy, it's on a bit too much. Do we really need 10 airings of it on Saturdays? Instead of the 4 in primetime, we could have gotten The Jeffersons and Three's Company, which aren't in primetime at all. Although, I'm sure after a week or so The Jeffersons will probably replace Designing Women on Monday nights.

Like the idea of 2 hour blocks at 8pm. I don't exactly love the choices of shows, like Good Times and MASH, but it's a good concept. Same thing goes with the afternoon blocks. I'm so excited to get to watch All in the Family and The Jeffersons at reasonable slots.

Overall, for a long post-LOL, most shows on TVland are really getting treated fairly this month. A huge step up, the first time for TVland in a long time-LOL

I agree. And I haven't said this in a long time, but this schedule looks decent. There's a variety of shows running all day long. TVLand has been lacking variety for a LONG time, IMO. It was always the same shows over and over. There might be hope for the future of TVLand, yet.

I hope their schedule stays like this for a while. I would hate to get used to a few shows in their new timeslots (Lucy, All In The Family, Cheers), only for them to screw around with everything again.

1 and a half thumbs up for TVLand! ;)

I also see LHOTP is gone. Hallelujah! It's been long overdue. We can watch it on Hallmark....

If TV Land were smart, even a little bit they would have replaced I Love Lucy 10pm saturday night airings and 6pm weekday airings with the brady bunch...the link even said Lucy was one of the WORST RATED TV Land shows, and HAVEN NOT improved.

It's a decent schedule. I'll probably watch some of it.

TVLand, IMO, is at the point where it really needs a complete overhaul. They need to diversitize their programming. Some of the shows have been in reruns constantly for years it seems, with no signs of taking a break. Six or seven years ago, I felt the same exact way about shows like "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Gilligan's Island," "Mary Tyler Moore," "The Bob Newhart Show," "Bewitched," "I Dream of Jeannie," and the lot, and I said then that if they were to take those shows off for a good couple of years, to be rarely seen on cable TV, whenever they would indeed return to the mainstream, people would be all over them. I can hardly wait for the Hillbillies to come back and that marathon of Bob Newhart the other night was awesome. It's true: with absence, the heart grows a hell of a lot fonder.

Three's Company and the Jeffersons would have been soooooooooooooooo much better than Good Times and Sanford and Son.

Three's Company hasn't been in primetime since last winter, so there's no surprise there . . . I always thought it did pretty well for them, better than GT and SAS. I'm sure The Jeffersons will be back on Monday's replacing DW soon, but I'm pretty happy with the number of airings it's getting. This way, I can still watch WTB on ION at 9pm, and The Jeffersons at 5pm. It all works out for me!

yeah, this is the one schedule of TVLand's in years that I hope stays for awhile to come. Of course, there's no way it's gonna happen. It's just great to see so many shows getting so many decent timeslots, like AITF and Cheers. Plus, we get less westerns, which is always a plus, and a schedule basically filled with sitcoms, which I'm sure we all love here-LOL

TVLand, with the re-acquirization of "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Hogan's Heroes",apparently HAS learned the meaning of the old saying "
absence makes the heart grow fonder.BUT BEWARE:When "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family"returned to TVLand after a brief hiatus, they said "The people have spoken",(people wanted these shows back, and they listened),but instead of sticking them in one time slot-AND LEAVING THEM THERE,they've switched these 2 shows first from 4-5 PM(3-4 PM Central)3-4 PM(2-3 PM Central),to 1-2PM(12-1 PM Central)to 2-3PM (1-2 PM Central) to mornings, and on Saturday and Sunday Mornings.I hope it doesn't,but the same thing just might happen to newly acquired shows "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Hogan's Heroes",or the other newly acquired TVLand shows, which they SAY are coming soon.

yeah, this is the one schedule of TVLand's in years that I hope stays for awhile to come. Of course, there's no way it's gonna happen. It's just great to see so many shows getting so many decent timeslots, like AITF and Cheers.

Check it out; The October schedule is apparently staying through December! I'm shocked. This must be a record for TVLand!

I'm expecting a few changes before December. It may be the schedule for now, but not for long . . .

I think TVLand changed the Sept. schedule 5 or 6 times. How simpleminded can you get about a schedule, really?

Pav, is TV Land going to stop their habit of airing shows off the clock? They just started a DW ep. like 10 mins early. It's very annoying. I swear, they do it just to mess w/ people who are trying to record a show.

Viewers have been logging on to TVLand.com since October 19 to enter the Young Frankenstein Sweepstakes. One lucky winner and their guest will be flown round-trip to NYC to attend Young Frankenstein on Broadway, hotel accommodations for 2 nights and $500 spending cash. Starting November 1, TVLand.com will also feature interviews with the cast of the musical including, Megan Mullally (Elizabeth), Sutton Foster (Inga), Shuler Hensley (The Monster), Andrea Martin (Frau Blucher), Fred Applegate (Kemp) and Christopher Fitzgerald (Igor) as well as highlights from the show.

Shot in black and white as an homage to monster movies of the past, co-screenwriter, Gene Wilder, stars as a young neurosurgeon who inherits the castle of his grandfather, Victor von Frankenstein. He denies interest in his grandfather's experiments until the discovery of von Frankenstein's journal. With the help of Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, and Marty Feldman, hilarity ensues as Victor von Frankensteins monster is brought to life.

From the creative team of The Producers, the musical version of Young Frankenstein opens on Broadway November 9 at the Hilton Theatre in New York City. Attention All Personnel ... Incoming Mail!!

TV Land Treats Viewers To A Mailbag Of Eighteen Hilarious Episodes in
'M*A*S*H Mail Call'

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 -- It's two nights of madcap antics, pranks, love letters, homemade cookies and the latest gossip when TV Land presents a marathon of episodes from the hit series M*A*S*H during "M*A*S*H Mail Call". The marathon begins on Saturday, November 10, at 9:00pm (all times ET/PT) and Sunday, November 11, at 9:00pm (all times ET/PT) and chronicles the many personal letters and packages sent to and from loved ones of the gang at 4077th -- some good, some bad -- but all filled with side-splitting laughter. Fans will be treated to some of the most memorable episodes including "Dear Mildred", "The Winchester Tapes", "Dear Comrade"
and the popular three-part series "Dear Dad", "Dear Dad, Again" and "Dear Dad, Three", featuring Hawkeye's comical and heartfelt letters sent to his father back in the United States.

The "M*A*S*H Mail Call" Marathon schedule is as follows (all times ET/PT):

Saturday, November 10th

9p #12 -- Dear Dad
Hawkeye writes home describing Christmas in Korea while Radar
ships a jeep home, one piece at a time. Henry gives the monthly
lecture on sex with the aid of figure A and figure B, Trapper
helps deliver a calf as Hawkeye flies to the front line dressed as
Santa to help a wounded soldier.

9:30p #18 -- Dear Dad, Again
Once again, Hawkeye writes home to his father telling him of the
latest gossip: the camp gets a new surgeon, who turns out to be a
fake; Hawkeye bets he can walk into the mess tent naked for lunch
and no one will notice; Radar cheats on his final exam from the
High School diploma company and Margaret rejects Frank's advances
and he gets drunk late into the night.

10p #33 -- Dear Dad, Three
Once more Hawkeye writes home to his father. The doctors operate
on a soldier who has a grenade in his body; Hawkeye and Trapper
color the skin of a racist patient. Henry gets a movie of his
daughter's birthday from home. The officers hold the monthly
staff meeting.

10:30p #60 -- A Full Rich Day
Hawkeye records a letter to his father detailing the exploits of a
mad Turkish soldier who calls Hawkeye a "damn good Joe" and the
4077th deals with the loss of the corpse ... who turns out not to
be dead.

11p #80 -- Dear Mildred
It's Potter's wedding anniversary, so he writes home. Frank and
Hot Lips have a woodcarving made for him. Radar rescues a horse
to give as a present.

11:30p #83 -- Dear Peggy
B.J. writes home to his wife, Peg, reporting Klinger's escape
attempts while the unit receives a visit from a formidable
chaplain. Frank goofs-up.

12a #89 -- Dear Ma
Radar writes home to his mother as Hawkeye conducts the camp foot
inspection and Colonel Potter gets some shrapnel in his backside.

12:30a #162 -- Dear Sis
Father Mulcahy writes a pre-Christmas letter to his sister -- who
is a nun -- as he recounts his frustrations at not being more
effective at the 4077th.

1a #185 -- Dear Uncle Abdul
Klinger discovers that his duties as company clerk include
catering to the eccentric whims of the 4077th officers.
Consequently, the unusual demands by Klinger's superiors leave
little time to write a letter home to Toledo.

Sunday, November 11th

9p #47 -- Mail Call
The arrival of a new batch of mail leaves Trapper depressed and
thinking of desertion, despite Hawkeye's efforts to dissuade him.
Meanwhile, Hawkeye learns that he has successfully tricked Frank
into buying stocks in a fictitious company.

9:30p #87 -- Mail Call Again
The mailbag brings a letter to Frank saying his wife is divorcing
him and one to Potter telling him he is going to be a grandfather.

10p #143 -- Mail Call Three
After a delay of three weeks, five sacks of mail finally arrive
and everyone in camp reacts to good and bad news from home:
Hawkeye receives love letters addressed to another Benjamin
Pierce; another man has propositioned B.J.'s wife and Radar's mom
has a boyfriend.

10:30p #105 -- Dear Sigmund
Sidney Freedman, feeling depressed, visits and the 4077th to
observe how they fare under the pressures of war. He begins a
letter to Sigmund Freud as a form of self-therapy and he and B.J.
release tension in the form of a practical joke on Frank Burns.

11p #223 -- Give Em Hell, Hawkeye
Hawkeye writes a heartfelt letter to President Harry Truman to
protest the continued fighting in Korea. Meanwhile, Colonel Ditka
has promised a much-needed water-heater if the 4077th beautifies
the camp.

11:30p #128 -- The Winchester Tapes
Winchester tape-records a message home asking his influential
parents do whatever it takes to get him back to the States.
Meanwhile, Hawkeye and B.J. switch Winchester's clothes to a
smaller size, causing Winchester to alter his eating patterns.

12a #200 -- Letters
Members of the 4077th share their impressions of war in response
to letters from fourth graders in Hawkeye's hometown.

12:30a #159 -- Dear Comrade
Hawkeye and B.J. discover that Charles is living the life of
Riley, thanks to the attentions of his low paid Korean servant,
Comrade Park, a man of unusual skills. He has an important
contribution to make -- a native remedy for a seemingly insoluble
medical problem.

1a #217 -- The Forsight Saga
The 4077th is given a gift of fresh-grown vegetables by a grateful
Korean and Potter questions the veracity of an upbeat letter from
Radar.

Talk about overstuffed!!TVLand obviously has NEVER heard of the old saying "Familiarity breeds contempt",because these shows included in TVLand's Overstuffed Thanksgiving Weekend ,(and yes,I know they are classics, and I know there are die-hard fans of the shows,)have been run-and re-run-and rerun ad nauseum practically into the ground.TVLand definitely needs some "new blood",in the way of new classic shows shows from the 1950's and 1960's,some of which are just sitting around in vaults collecting dust.

I believe some of those people up there do not belong on that list, or at least so close to #1. For example Homer Simpson. How could he make the list ahead of John Ritter, Ed Sullivan, and others? And, as much as I love Roseanne to death, she does not belong at #11, because is she really the best icon out there?
