Very Surprised a Team like New England would have to stoop so low, especially after winning the title so many years.

Im sure they are not the only ones doing it, but they were stupid enough to get caught not once but twice. This brings up the doubt about just how good they are. I think even the cowboys or giants defense could stop people if they knew what was coming.

To quote Rosco P. Coltrane from The Dukes of Hazzard, "Shame, shame! Everybody knows your name!" Whatever happens to the Patriots after the NFL has busted them for taping signals, they deserve. I think an appropriate penalty for this violation is the team losing draft picks in the 2008 NFL Draft. There will be no game forefeiture for that violation, but expect the Jets to use that as motivation for their next meeting with the Patriots. If the Packers were complaining about it, too, well, now, albeit indirectly, they've been heard. The Patriots forefeiting draft picks in next years draft would have to be the only logical discipline for the team for taping oponent's signals, but in the end, it's going to be Roger Goddell's call-he's not going to stand for cheating in his league.

I'm more upset that a losing franchise like cleveland hasn't made an attempt to do something like this-lol This proves that the pats hate to lose

Is he really a defensive genious ?? I remember when he coached Cleveland they wanted to throw him to the Dawg pound.

First the Patriots show no class and poor sportsmanship by mocking Shawne Merriman's "lights out" dance through the halls of Qualcomm Stadium and Ellis Hobbs dancing on the grass after the Pats fluke victory. Then they get caught cheating by taping signals.

The Pats deserved to lose in the playoffs.

WELL SAID AGREED!! The Pats just got by on that one. If Mcree doesn't fumble it a Chargers win. I was very shocked to see that by the pats I thought they had more class than that!

I don't want to hear that silly sh*T. The Chargers LOST because they were not good enough and the Pats earned the right to celebrate on their home field. No other way to put it

This assumes that somehow before the 1st quarter has even ended, the guy with the camera has not only figured out which of the two or three guys sending signals to the defense is legit (most teams employ at least one and usually two guys to “send” fake signals) but also managed to crack the code and figure out what defensive action the signals translate to so that he can then signal the offense. Of course, he has to get all that deciphering and counter signaling done in the handful of seconds between when the defense makes its call and Brady calls the snap. If Bill Belichick is hiring people that good at code-cracking and multi-tasking, we need to put him in charge of the CIA.

All the people complaining might want to look at the actual rule they broke. It was using the camera that was illegal, not the stealing of signals. Every team does that. Even Shanahan admitted to hiring a lip reader to find out what the other team was saying. Point being, yes it was wrong, but honestly, teams change signals every game, and by the time they were able to look at the video and attach the signals to the plays that were run, the game would of been over. None the less, those who hate the Pats will continue to do so, and there is no changing that. A lot of it is jealousy. The Patriots made a mistake and paid for it, but to claim that it had anything to do with winning their Superbowls is preposterous, and I'm from New York.

If you're going to celebrate on your opponent's field, do it with class. The Pats didn't celebrate with class.

No they don't deserve to lose. As for Merriman's light's out dance, he's the one who was out of line every time he did it. Talk about poor sportsmanship. Then everyone cries when the Pats give it back to him.

Thanks Brian. It's nice to read a voice of reasoned perspective for a change, and not the usual hysterical hyperbole from the knee-jerk, 'Hang 'Em High' crowd. The Patriots will move on from this. Belichick is a bold man, even arrogant. That's his problem here, but to try to claim that this affects their prior wins is nonsense. No excuses, what they did was wrong, but the Patriot haters are licking their chops.

and I heard from the Eagles and Steelers yesterday that they should have won if the Pats hadn't cheated. That's a bunch of bull. The Pats beat them because they were a better team. Even in that SB with the Eagles I had absolutely no fear that the Patriots were going to lose.

I don't know why Belichick did what he did....he didn't have to because his team was the best and for anyone to actually believe that the Patriots SB's are tainted is just stupid. I heard Coach Parcells on TV a little while ago and he blamed the teams that this was going on against because they had to be very lapsed in protecting their plays. He said he was always on guard against spying because it goes on all the time. I even remember reading about how it went on back when Tom Landry and George Allen were coaching against each other. Trying to gain the upper hand over the opponent is part of the game. They asked the coach of the Jets today since he was on Belichick's staff if he knew about all of this beforehand and he said no comment. lol It was a setup.

If it makes you feel better, Merriman won't do that dance this season. Don't think that I condone that dance, I don't. It is bad sportsmanship but that doesn't give the other team a license to do it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I don't care if he does the Macarana. My point is that to bring others to task for doing something that he started is illogical.
