I've been confused on the opening credits for TWY. I know they used 3 different openings throughout the show, but I wasn't sure when exactly they changed. So, I was thinking they used the first opening for the first 4 seasons, then changed them in season 5, with the same theme song, just with a few changes. Then, they must have changed the credits for the final season with the shortened theme song and sixties montage opening credits? Am I right? I was never too sure, so I thought I'd ask-LOL

I just asked a similar question on IMDb, and you are correct! (I was confused because I was watching the episodes on ION and ION cuts off a couple seconds from the opening credits.) There have been three different opening credits: Season 1-4, Season 5, and Season 6.

ION cuts of quite a bit of the theme. They only show the scenes for the actors, but they cut out all the extra scenes inbetween, which is why I asked. I knew season5 had to be different, because after watching the season 5 finale on ION, they showed the entire opening sequence for that episode only, and it was different from what I remembered it to be back in the ninties. Thanks for the help!

No, they edit seasons 1-5 themes, but they leave season 6 alone, considering it was already short in the first place. In the first 5 seasons, they leave the scenes crediting all the actors, but they edit out all those extra scenes imbetween.

I question that. The theme is exactly the way I remember it when it first ran 15+ years ago. I also have episodes downloaded that were taped from several different networks, and all of the themes are identical to what ION airs.

Actually, the theme changed for the first time at the end of season 4. The theme song was extended and new scenes were added (Wayne hitting Karen with a paper plate, Paul having an asthma attack on the sidewalk, etc.). Then in season 5, the theme stayed extended and updated scenes were added (Karen graduating, Kevin/Paul/Winnie driving away in a car, etc).
The fourth theme was the theme used in season 6, with the instrumental intro.

So four themes.
