"Corner Gas" debut, 8 and 8:30 p.m., WGN. One of the new season's best shows arrives for a sneak peek - or, actually, nine peeks. Officially, "Corner Gas" arrives Sept. 17. Over the next few days, however, WGN will air nine half-hours; it has plenty, 69 have been taped in Canada, over four seasons. You'll find the droll, dry wit of Canadians in general and Brent Butt in particular. He plays the owner of a small-town gas station and convenience store in Saskatchewan. In tonight's opener, a city girl (Lacy Burrows) takes over the adjoining diner. In the second episode, a tax man (Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall) visits. In both, the humor is slow, sly and quite wonderful.

I just found a blank tape, at least I think it is blank. Oh well, I will use it and have my daughter record it for me if she is awake. She worked the night shift and is asleep right now. Hopefully she will be awake by the time I leave to take my son to practice. JESUS! I totally forgot his practice! *irene is p*ssed*

well, I just finished watching the first episode and I LOVED it - FOUR thumbs up (and half an elbow).

I am confused about WGN''s schedule though. Firstly, I am surprised that I actually get WGN - last time I looked that channel was the old UPN channel, and it used to just say "INDEPENDENT" and I think it only showed infomercials, but there it was a real channel again. Secondly, it looks like they are going to be airing Corner Gas nightly, but at different times every night, possibly repeating some episodes from night to night.

Doesn't matter though - I'm recording them for later viewing.

Yup, the first 3 seasons of Corner Gas have been available on DVD for some time now and season 4 is coming out Sept 18th ( Americans can only buy it online, so far )

yup, I was just checking on that - they seem to be kinda expensive right now, I'll probably put them on my wishlist and wait til they go on sale (they want like $65 for the 2 disk sets and even more for the 3 disk sets!!)

You might try ordering them from Amazon.ca or maybe from the Corner Gas website....cause they arent even close to that $$$ here! :eek:

this is a definitely a show worth getting excited about - there were SO MANY hilarious parts - the female cop and the surveillance bush, Oscar and the VCR (I just KNEW he'd never be able to hook it up), everything about Hank, all the little subtle jokes that go by too quick too notice :rotflmao:

Im really glad you enjoyed it Roby...i hope Robin was watching too...and yeah, there is a lot of little throw away jokes....when you get the show on DVD, you find all kinds of things you missed the first time!!! ( Sometimes after 20 viewings! :) ) This show has constantly beaten the American shows in its timeslot, here in Canada!

so far they have gotten the episode descriptions wrong at least 3 times, and they have cut off the beginning of TWO episodes for - BASEBALL SCORES.

ridiculous. - can't wait til they start playing it in its regular timeslot, so I can see the FIRST half of the episodes i missed.

At least you get episode descriptions. My cable guide says the general description of the show.

The info for the episodes is never wrong on my tv. They have cut me off once but winter is near so I wont have to worry about friggin baseball cutting me off.

Anyway here is pretty much the episode slot times:

Monday - Thursday 12a ET
Friday 2:30a ET
Wednesdays 8p ET(2 episodes)
Sundays 11:30p ET(2 episodes)

The regular schedule begins tonight!!! Too bad my local cable company dumped WGN to the digital stations, then Id be able to get even more CG without having to use my DVD player! :lol:
