View Full Version : Shows you realized you hate because of these boxset releases BuddyHinton 09-10-2007, 12:11 PM I used to watch Welcome Back Kotter back in the 70's and a few months ago Netflixed disc one of the first season and was aghast at how much I hate this show now. A couple of shows I wouldn't buy, cause I was never into the shows are Cheers and M*A*S*H. Also I was never a big fan of Everybody Loves Raymond. Jude The Obscure 09-10-2007, 01:10 PM Well, i wouldn't say hate, I would say no longer interested or bored for some..."Christy" is an example. I watched 3 episodes and then shipped the rest of the discs back. factsoflife 09-10-2007, 03:31 PM Jem and the Holograms, the 80's cartoon is one i rewatched on DVD and realized i hated it... or rather that it wasn't as good as i thought it was. JulieSomoski 09-10-2007, 03:56 PM I bought the first season of Saved by the Bell: TNC, thinking it would be like Saved by the Bell. I watched about 4 episodes, and discovered the show sucked. It's still sitting on my shelf, but I don't plan on buying any other seasons anytime soon-LOL Adamantium 09-10-2007, 04:12 PM I bought the first season of Saved by the Bell: TNC, thinking it would be like Saved by the Bell. It gets better, with some of the cast changes. My favorite is season two, that's when Screech comes back, but I just love the group that season. While I still like "ALF", I never watch my DVDs of it. Maybe it's because of the syndicated episodes or I just liked it better as a kid, I don't know. A couple of shows I wouldn't buy, cause I was never into the shows are Cheers and M*A*S*H. Also I was never a big fan of Everybody Loves Raymond. Tastes are truly different. Cheers and Mash represent the pinnacle of what makes TV tick (along with, IMO Columbo and AITF), it's just funny you pulled my two faves out of a hat and spat on them:) I found Gabe Kaplan to be be the high point but the kids were so grating and absolutely hammy I barely could make it through the disc. I thank GOD I didn't blind buy this like I had almost thought of doing. dakert 09-11-2007, 12:40 PM Welcome Back Kotter is still a good show but this isnt a show you can watch in a marathon style. Watch 1 episode a week, I watch mine on thursday at 11:30pm along with an episode of One Day At A Time both premiered in 1975. I also like watching Starsky and Hutch in tandem with Charlies Angels--excellent and fun tv viewing. factsoflife 09-11-2007, 03:37 PM Just for the record, not many of the fans like the first season of "The New Class." Maybe it's because of the syndicated episodes or I just liked it better as a kid, I don't know. i liked TNC, but what bothered me was the constant cast changes oftentimes w/out explination at all... characters would appear and dissappear without even a one-line mention... and i felt after awhile the episodes started to feel too similar to the original series, in that the plots were very similar. Buffyboy323 09-15-2007, 04:16 AM Then maybe I'll sell season 1 (somehow) and pick up season 2. Adam does not lie!....Though I did think the 2nd season was the worst TNC season (after the first). It does get pretty good as the show goes on. The first season is clearly a knockoff of the original series cast. They even created a "lead" male (Scott) that would speak to us viewers (Zack anyone?)...There were times later on when you can tell who the writers liked giving more stories to, but the show really did become an ensemble series. I'm sure it wasn't as great as the original, though. Next time I go to Best Buy, I'll pick up a season or 2 of TNC, just to check it out. I heard the middle seasons were the best (4-6), so maybe I'll pick up those first. Thanks everyone :) Buffyboy323 10-20-2007, 08:34 AM I wouldn't say I hated it, but not too long ago, out of curiosity, I rented the first season of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman." I watched 4 or 5 episodes, and called it quits. I just didn't like it. BensonFan 10-20-2007, 12:51 PM Welcome Back Kotter is still a good show but this isnt a show you can watch in a marathon style. I tend to agree with this. I like watching it occasionally but I couldn't watch it all day long. shipoopi 11-10-2007, 09:50 PM For me it's 'Good Times'. My family watched this every week in the 70's but now I could barely get through the first few "My life is hell because of whitey. I wish I could breathe but whitey owns the air. How am I supposed to feed my kids since I left a good paying job on another sitcom and now its whitey's fault." Ho-hum. |
