View Full Version : Because the salt was tainted with SALT

UNION CITY, Ga. - A McDonald's employee spent a night in jail and is facing criminal charges because a police officer's burger was too salty, so salty that he says it made him sick.
Kendra Bull was arrested Friday, charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and freed on $1,000 bail.
Bull, 20, said she accidentally spilled salt on hamburger meat and told her supervisor and a co-worker, who "tried to thump the salt off."
On her break, she ate a burger made with the salty meat. "It didn't make me sick," Bull told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
But then Police Officer Wendell Adams got a burger made with the oversalted meat, and he returned a short time later and told the manager it made him sick.
Bull admitted spilling salt on the meat, and Adams took her outside and questioned her, she said.
"If it was too salty, why did (Adams) not take one bite and throw it away?" said Bull, who has worked at the restaurant for five months. She said she didn't know a police officer got one of the salty burgers because she couldn't see the drive-through window from her work area.
Police said samples of the burger were sent to the state crime lab for tests.
City public information officer George Louth said Bull was charged because she served the burger "without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it."
What a waste of time and money.
catlover79 09-09-2007, 03:25 PM Irene, Madame X, and I would've enjoyed this... Seriously, that sounds like TOO much salt for anyone - but ARRESTING the employee?? Isn't that a bit much??
I agree. I really think it was an accident in this case.

 Here here, GIMME THAT BURGER!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmm.;)
Madame X 09-09-2007, 03:31 PM Yes, Cat. The word SALT did attract my attention! ;)
I wonder if this case would have gone that far if the victim wasn't a police officer.
catlover79 09-09-2007, 03:32 PM Couldn't they just have made and served the cop ANOTHER burger??
Ireneparalegal 09-09-2007, 03:34 PM Couldn't they just have made and served the cop ANOTHER burger??
Yeah, like it was too much trouble to ask for another hamburger. Since when is it a crime to eat a burger with too much salt? What penal code is that?
catlover79 09-09-2007, 03:37 PM Yeah, like it was too much trouble to ask for another hamburger. Since when is it a crime to eat a burger with too much salt? What penal code is that?
Did the cop eat the WHOLE burger? If it didn't taste right, why eat the whole thing? STUPID!
Madame X 09-09-2007, 03:39 PM The employee shouldn't have been held completely responsible since she did tell her supervisor.
I could see if she hawked a lunger in the meat and deliberately mixed it in, then ok, send her to jail.
McDonalds prides itself on selling billions of burgers. Odds are, now and then there will be a "surprise."

I call abuse of power.
This guy's not going to get a decent burger anywhere now!

I hope he gets one with "special sauce."
freshprinceofLA 09-09-2007, 06:32 PM WOW that cop should get arrested for being stupid!!!
dawsongirl 09-09-2007, 08:51 PM This girl should sue for false arrest. Line Irene said, what penal code does salty burger fall under?
Chelsea 09-09-2007, 09:10 PM Some people ARE more sensitive to the effects of salt - it's possible this officer could be one of those folks. Still, this arrest is absurd. This lady gets thrown in the clink, while that lady from the other thread gets off scot free due to the inept prosecutor? WTF
ABlairican Pie 09-09-2007, 09:12 PM Yeah, I can just see it now:
"I'm in for armed robbery. What are you in for?"
"Barroom brawl. Hey, Uniform Girl, what are [I]you[I] in for?"
--"Uhh, over-salting a burger. Ordered by a cop."
Now I can see the new ads for McDonald's burgers:
Burgers so good, they're criminal.
:eat:
ClassicTVGal 09-09-2007, 10:37 PM How dumb!

If he's that sensitive, then what the hell is he doing eating fast food? I thought of this too, but no one that is on a low or no sodium diet should be eating fast food.

 I think you're onto something here!!

Oh yeah.
Max Whittaker 09-10-2007, 01:05 AM I agree. I really think it was an accident in this case.
No. It's complete disregard for customer well being. Granted, it's Mcdonalds and they can't be expected to care about customer's health, but come on! They just tapped the salt off? That's not sanitary, and at the very least, it offends the taste buds.
It doesn't matter that the customer was a cop. It shouldn't matter. I would expect to be treated respectfully regardless of whether or not I have the ability to arrest someone.
Of course, why anyone was arrested over this, is beyond me, unless it's a health violation. Which, they may be able to swing.
The manager should have gave him some of those free hamburger coupons and this whole situation could have been solved. lol!

I always found it ironic that when people complain about their meal or it makes them sick, they often get a free meal at the same place. Yeah, I want to eat there again! O_O

That's very true.
