LOL) I recenty scored an interview with a marketing firm in Weschester County,NY(Tarrytown) and am staying in Manhattan for the time being. My Aunt and Uncle tell me that the location is too far and that I should try to get something work related within NYC. However, this is the first company that called me for an interview and I was not even expecting the call.

The commute by car is 45 minutes and by train and bus would be 52 minutes. Since it is 28 miles, it does not bother me at all. I see what they are saying but people commute all the time. Opinions, anyone?

8 miles - I take the main roads - usually takes about 15 minutes to and fro since I work second shift and miss rush hour.

During the summer, it was an hour and 20 minute train ride for me to get to the city and then another 5-10 to get to work.

Less than 10 minutes...I work really close to home, thank god :)

My last job was less than a mile from home, so I often walked. Didn't have to worry about gas money...those were the days, :lol:.

25min to half hr to get to my job!

About a 15 minute walk from my house. I refuse to waste an hour or two in a car stuck in traffic.

I live out in the country between 2 towns and I work in both. My full-time job is only 5 miles from where I live and I just have to drive on the highway and my part-time job is 10 miles from my place. And there both in small towns I don't have to worry about rush hour or heavy traffic the only thing I have to worry about is winter weather.

Well I did my interview today. The train that I took to get there was not a bad ride at all. It was a 37 minute ride to get there. If I am offered the position, I am not sure if I will take it or not.

10 min walk from my apt

Its about 6 miles to work. I can get there in less than 10 minutes if I speed. (which of course i never do) lol!

You guys are very fortunate. Some people don't have it as good.

3 miles for me, to and from.

I have two businesses. One here at home, so that is no biggie. But it is work that at times requires me to go to the county courthouse and so that commute is 10 miles roundtrip.

As for the other business I own, it is an apartment complex. I sometimes go out there just to see how things are, check a repair problem, go meet with the maintenance guy when he needs to inform me of whatever is going on with a repair. That commute is 5 miles roundtrip.

6 miles or so. Going the interstate, I can get there in a little less than 15 min. I leave after rush hour, but it's still moderately busy.

At my first job at the movie theater, I only had to WALK about ten to fifteen minutes. But most of the time I was able to get a ride there anyway. :p Plus there was no way I was gonna walk back home after closing the theater most days at midnight, LOL.

At my previous job at Victoria's Secret and at my current law firm job, it usually takes about fifteen minutes by train.

Working from home would be so ideal for me. You dont know how much I would love that. When I was in Orlando, the commute for me to the taxi place to get a cab to drive was 16 miles. So I had a 32 mile commute roundtrip.

Didn't know I wasn't the only person here who had a short commute. There's an industrial park right behind my house, that's where I work. It's literally 3 right hand turns to go, 3 lefts to come home, hehe. I could walk, and I did once when I locked myself out of the house (in the dead of winter, no less! I'll never do THAT again!). It would be nice, except for the fact that I go in at 12:30, so there are tons of cars on the road b/c it's lunch hour. I have the hardest time just getting out of the driveway some days!

I'm lucky I work about 2 1/2 miles away. Usually it's just 15 minutes by subway but sometimes, if I have the time, I walk. Esp. when the air is crisp like it's going to be in 1-2 months.

45 mins to an hour, depends on traffic, thats why I live my house at 7am.

My full time job is 8 miles. I ride my bike.

My seasonal job I try to get around the holidays is considerably further and mostly up hill. So this year I will be driving!

It usually takes me 25-30 minutes in nice weather because I'll drive in and park in the garage, In the winter, i'd say 45 minutes.

We have a lot of different responses. Do we have anyone out there that does 90-120 commutes? I have noticed buses that take people fron Philly into New York to work and then brings them back home.

I walk too although I usually get a ride home. It's about 2 miles and takes me 30 min give or take.

Wow, I thought I had it made with my commute to work that is eight miles via the backroads and ten via the interstate and US 35 which is limited-access on the part I use, but many people here walk to work! (No, I'm not jealous!) I usually take 15-20 minutes to get there, by the way.

Where I used to work for 16 years, it was only 4.5 miles one way. That's how I was able to afford the gasoline to drive my limo there. Even a limo doesn't go through much fuel in 4.5 miles.

Lets see. It's 7 miles and about 45 minutes with traffic, and about 25-30 without. Getta love LA traffic:wallbang
