What a farce. I recently auditioned for the upcoming game show,
MERV GRIFFIN'S CROSSWORDS. It's painfully obvious that they
don't pay their people well. What a circus. None of them seem
happy in their jobs, and WOW what a screw-up. We were all
assigned numbers upon arrival, but somehow these numbers got
out of order. SO, some people who passed the 90 question test
were dismissed, while others who didn't do well on the test got
to stay. Absolutely the most unprofessional audition with which I've
ever been involved. By the way, the game will be totally self-contained..
no returning champion, so they can run the shows in any order.
Most markets will run them back-to-back, while means they'll run
through episodes very quickly. The show takes 5 contestants a day,
and like JEOPARDY, only the winner gets to keep his loot. They wouldn't
tell us what the winnings are, however (nor the largest amount
won so far). Over 200 episodes will be made in season one. They are
desperate for contestants. 36 people tried out on my day, but only 13 survived...

This show is one of Merv's last great shows in his memory. RIP Merv 1925-2007
