I think the producers went overboard ending that episode with a still shot of the boat being overturned-lol That scared the sh*t out of me as a child and I was like-"mommy did George drown?? Why couldn't they have just ending that episode with george and tom yelling for help??? That overturned boat thing was kind of foolish

Ok, you mentioned this topic before but I will respond.

What was wrong with the ending? A show that is geared towards an older crowd certainly wasn't going to be thinking abt 9 year old Solomon watching this episode and getting scared. So, are you saying it was too dramatic for The Jeffersons? Or simply because it was scary?

No, it was just a pointless ending because we know that they didn't drown-lol

We know they didn't drown in the NEXT episode but it is called suspense, a cliffhanger. They wanted to leave us hanging obviously.

I thought the ending was fine. I never have like endings that don't exactly tie up the loose ends, but still, what else could they have done?

Good Times had the suspense thing going on when J.J. got shot. We thought it was going to be worse than it ended up being. He was shot in the shoulder, but the way the episode ended, it gave the appearance he was shot in the chest or stomach.

No, I am reminding you of your comment above where you said there shouldn't be dramatics in a sitcom. So, showing the two men screaming for help is not funny, it is dramatic. No matter how the scene ended, it was going to be dramatic, not funny, the way you wanted.

Now you've got me confused

Was it supposed to be funny or not? So the episode ended with the boat flipped over. So what? How much better did you want it to end? It still is just a sitcom.

It is not I who is complaining, it is Solomon. I am merely saying that for dramatic reasons, they ended the episode by making the audience wonder and speculate, just like a cliffhanger. Solomon is saying dramatics don't belong in sitcoms.

I knew that . . . but I really don't understand why. It wasn't exactly like a cliffhanger. We knew they weren't going to die or anything like that. It was just a simple and fun way to end the episode, IMO.

I also believe dramatics shouldn't be in a sitcom, but what does this episode have to do with drama? This was a funny episode to watch and relax with, and really nothing more.

I have no issue with how the episode played out. Evidently Solomon does. It scared the bejesus outta him as a child and he doesn't care for how the episode ended. My opinion, I love the Hawaiian episodes. I have no quarrels abt it.

When George and Tom was screaming, the audience was laughing so I'm thinking they could have just ended it like that with a still shot or with them screaming. But to show the boat overturned like George and Tom had drowned was just so stupid to me
