This is a spinoff of the thread about the toppings you like on your baked potato. I replied that while I like baked potatoes, I REALLY liked them mashed. Give me mashed potatoes with butter or gravy (depending on what the main course is). Au gratin potatoes are pretty cool, too.

I like them baked and mashed but my favorite kinds of potatoes are Sweet Potatoes with butter and a little brown sugar.

I love me some mashed potatos. I make them with mayonnaise, salt, pepper and milk. I sometimes add a little of instant mashed potatos if I added too much milk. Then, I can eat them just like that. My boyfriend loves gravy with his potatos. I can take it or leave it. I am told my mashed potatos don't need any gravy.;)

But I love Holiday Potatos. There are many different ways to make holiday potatos but I prefer them this way:

HOLIDAY POTATO DISH
4 lbs. unpared potatoes, cooked & drained
1 c. onion, chopped
1/4 c. butter
1 can cream of celery or mushroom soup
1 pt. sour cream
1 1/2 c. cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 c. Corn Flakes, crushed
3 tbsp. butter, melted

My best friend loves smashed potatoes with mayo and cracked black pepper she had a massive craving for that while she was pregnant! :)

My favorite is mashed. I only like butter on them. I don't like gravy on any form of potatoes. I guess I'm weird. :lol:

I like my mashed with butter on them, too!!

But my favorite is baked potato, no sour cream but a little extra butter & salt. Some 'Wendy's restaurants' still sell the potato with bacon & cheese or broccoli & cheese. I get one of those sometimes.

Mashed with lots of gravy. The deli at the grocery store I work at has the best gravy, I'd drink it if I could.:liplick:

I love classic mashed potatoes, made with potato, salt, pepper, butter and milk...and whipped with a hand whipper. I don't want any other ingredients such as garlic, cheese, onions, sour cream or anything else a person can think of. Just regular classic whipped potatoes. Just like my Mother used to make.

i prefer them as wedges with the skin intact and it has a southern coating to it, although my favourite is mashed potatoes with bangers (or sausages) and lots of gravy. mmmm!

I prefer to boil mine for awhile, but not mash them. Instead I'll slice them before cooking and then just boil them enough so I can poke a fork through them to see that they're edible. Not exactly scalloped. I'm not sure what you'd call them. Sliced potatoes? :lol:

I love sweet potatoes! :drool: I love them mashed up or baked with a little brown sugar and cinnamon. I much prefer sweet potatoes to regular white ones. I hear they're healthier for you too.

My most-favorite type of prepared potato is mashed potatoes! :drool: I especially love the homemade mashed potatoes over the quick-fix boxed versions. Mmmmm....homemade is just....divine! It's like sex on a fork!

Mashed, when they're mashed and not chunk potatoes like my family is known to make them...

I also like baked potatoes...heck I like potatoes in any way, shape or form. :P
