View Full Version : Molly Ringwald Mulls 'Sixteen Candles' Sequel
Brian Damage 08-25-2007, 09:30 PM Could it be time to put more candles on the cake? Molly Ringwald said she's in discussions to make a sequel to "Sixteen Candles," the 1984 movie about the obstacles and embarrassments a teen girl faces on her birthday.
The film, directed by John Hughes, shot Ringwald to teen stardom, but she hasn't appeared in a major role in many years. She said she's been appearing in theater, small TV and film parts and raising a daughter, now 18 months old.
Ringwald, 37, said she had been approached repeatedly about doing a sequel, but recently read a script that she liked and wanted to star in the movie.
"I've turned it down for years. I couldn't see how it would work," she said. "Now, it seems right."
Ringwald was reunited at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday with Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and Paul Gleason, three of her co-stars in 1985's "The Breakfast Club" directed by John Hughes.
Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez didn't show.
"They're in Africa with Dave Chappelle," Hall joked.

It's my favorite too, but after all these years I don't know how a sequel would work. They're doing Lost Boys so anything is possible.

I think Molly needs to leave this one alone. If she waited YEARS, and kept saying NO, there is a reason why.
First, another remake of the Wizard of Oz and now this???? How many remakes must we suffer through?
WHAT HAPPENED TO ORIGINALITY PEOPLE?
Mikey, I loved your list above!
coffield3 08-27-2007, 06:11 PM Dont you all think that they are going a tad to far with this remaking buisness!!

Next, we're going to see Molly Ringwald, Sarah Jessica Parker, Phoebe Cates, Kim Cattrall and the three Jennifers (Jason Leigh, Beals and Grey) in The Over the Hill Girls. They'll still be wearing tons of mousse and neon like in the 1980s, and instead of playing shuffleboard or bridge - it'll be a contest to who can solve a Rubik's Cube first!
Mikado 08-27-2007, 10:51 PM Could be worse Cat, they could be making "Square Pegs" the menopause years!
