Texas man puts 2-year-old in hot dryer as punishment

Aug 22, 2007 09:22 AM PDT

LUMBERTON, Texas (NEWS CHANNEL) -- A Lumberton, Texas man has been charged with injury to a child after putting a child in a dryer. Twenty-seven-year-old Bobby Lynn Curtis was charged with injury to a child Tuesday morning.

Authorities say he put his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter in the family's clothes dryer.

The girl suffered only minor injuries.

Lumberton Police Captain Danny Sullins says a woman came into the police station to report her 2-year-old daughter had burns on her arm.

The child was taken to the hospital and treated and released.

She was then taken to the Garth House in Beaumont where she told an interviewer that her mother's boyfriend had put her in the dryer the night before.

After getting that statement police arrested Curtis Monday night.

He gave police a full confession and said he did it because he suffers from anger issues.

He told officers he was bathing the child when she had a tantrum.

He says he then put her in a dryer for a short time, before pulling her out and putting her to bed.

The girl is back with her mother who police say did the right thing by reporting the incident.

I like the last line:

I would think so, If that were my child and she didn't report it my a$$ would be in some serious trouble because I'd be going off on both of them.

it doesn't mean they're implying she wasn't hurt mentally, they were just addressing it on a physical level. technically, they don't know what's going on in her mind.

i've heard of at least one other case of parents putting a child through a dryer as a punishment...very stupid and sick indeed.

Someone in her position may have been afraid of retrobution from the boyfriend...or that ultra-lame excuse of "but I love him and he didn't mean to!" Stupid, but some women are like that.

Oh i know...a woman who used to live down the street lost custody of her 7 year old daughter because her BF was sex assaulting her, and when he got out of jail......SHE TOOK HIM BACK! (So her daughter is still with her father, as far as I know)

As horrible as that sounds, I believe it. I have read/seen too many of these kind of "stories" on crime shows, documentaries, etc. It is sick and sad, but mostly disgusting.

I once seen a documentary of a woman who asked her boyfriend what he wanted for his birthday. He told her, "Your daughter." BTW, the daughter was 9 years old!  Guess what?????? She let him have her, as much as he wanted. &$#$#@!@&$%&*&*&^%&*@!!~
