LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office is disinclined to charge Lindsay Lohan with three drug-related felonies, a decision that could spare the troubled actress from a prison sentence, celebrity news outlet TMZ.com reported on Tuesday.

The charges are connected with Lohan's two recent arrests for drunken driving, first in May when she crashed her car on Beverly Hills, and then in July when she was involved in a late-night car chase in Santa Monica.

TMZ, citing unidentified law enforcement sources, said the 21-year-old actress would likely face misdemeanor drunk-driving charges for both incidents. If found guilty of both, she would serve a minimum of four days in jail, TMZ.com said.

Legal experts have said Lohan could face up to three years behind bars if confronted with the full weight of the law.

Asked about the TMZ.com report, district attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said the office has not yet received the Santa Monica case and the Beverly Hills case remains under review.

"A public discussion of potential charges prior to a case being filed would be inappropriate and potentially unethical," she said.

Gibbons also denied TMZ.com's report that charges could be filed on Wednesday.

After the Beverly Hills incident, cocaine was found in Lohan's car. After the Santa Monica chase, she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody and driving on a suspended license.

Lohan, who has done two rehab stints this year, has seen her promising film career plummet in recent years. Last month, she starred as stripper abducted by a sadistic killer in the box office bomb "I Know Who Killed Me."

 Once again, she gets away with it!! Unfair!! (I could say a lot more, but TJ and Janice would ban me for life - so I'll stop here.)

if this had happened to a normal person, they would've been arrested and charged, be sent to rehab or go to jail. yet lohan gets away with it because she is a celebrity after all, isn't she? once again, its one law for the rich, whilst the poor suffer yet again

So basically, Lindz will spend less time in jail than Paris Hilton did.

Paris, who didn't have coke on her and didn't commit two, that's two DUI's only months apart.

Well, at least she has some fans in the L.A. District Attorney's office.

Lord knows she doesn't have many out in the real world.

What really saddens me is all the young girls who look up to trashy "celebrities" like Lindsay, Britney, and Paris :( They will grow up thinking this kind of behavior is totally acceptable and that they can get away with it.

I think all people in this country need to be held responsible for their actions, no matter how rich or poor someone is.

She'll never learn if she doesn't serve her time. Calling the charges "inappropriate and potentially unethical" is just silly.

Hmm, I guess when she stole that car and was screaming "I can't get in trouble I'm a f****** celebrity" she was right .

What a joke our legal system is becoming/(already is).

She must be doing the entire district attorney's office. Screwing her way out of jail time.

What a worthless bitch....and an even more worthless legal system. Let's all point and laugh at the US.

No, Linz has a superior legal team that has somehow managed to get thier client out of any serious jailtime while other celebs (Paris Hilton) were jailed for a longer time for less serious offenses.

Lindsay's PR team should also be commended.

Plenty of photos have been leaked of her hiking and biking and recovering, living a good clean life at rehab- plus the photo of her sitting quietly at a table reading from the AA manual (an exclusive photo from OK! Magazine, which I'm sure paid top $$$ to Linday's people) has somehow swayed the gullible L.A. District Attorney's Office into letting this poor girl off the hook.

Great job all around guys and girls! Your bratty no talent client will walk.

Not that surprising, but it still pisses me off how celebrities/rich people get away with everything. Our legal system is BS!

By the way, how long until Phil Spector gets away with murder? Will that trial EVER end?

TMZ.com has a bunch of updates on Lindsay's case.

In short, she's probably not going to spend an hour in jail.

One day? She gets one day. Appropriate....on Mars maybe.

Paris Hilton should go beat her ass. That would be kinda funny.
