What are some examples of otherwise bad, unremarkable or plain terrible shows producing one or more episodes that are actually really excellent?
two episodes come to mind:
WKRP In Cincinatti: the thanksgiving episode where they throw turkeys from a plane is excellent and i believe imho that show is otherwise pretty average.
and 8 Simple Rules, an okay show, but not great did a pretty fantastic job with the episodes surrounding John Ritter's death.
