Within the next 24 hours, I have to make a big decision. Do I continue on at Western Kentucky, or do I transfer to University of Kentucky. I thought I'd made up my mind to transfer, but the more I think the less I'm sure.

Going to UK would mean starting over, as a Freshman. On the one hand, it'd negate what work I did at WKU, but on the other hand, my GPA at WKU was pretty poor, and a GPA reset might help.

If I ultimately DO decide to do something that involves any sort of post-Bachelor's education (Grad school, med school, whatever) - I NEED this transfer.

But, I like WKU. I like the people. I like the campus. I actually like (most) of the professors. If I could reset my grades and stay at WKU, I would. But I can't. If I want the second chance, it'll have to be at UK.

I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

It's unfortunate that you can't straighten everything out at WKU; however since you've stated that option is out of the question, and that you need this transfer, it seems to me that you have to go to UK. It is a shame for your wasted time put in at WKU. Still, think of how you'd feel if you didn't transfer and then decided to further your education and could not.

It's natural to feel apprehensive about such a big change. We get our comfort zones in place with people and routines that we like. Change is often scary, even good change. In the long run, you're making the right decision to transfer. You'll make new friends and find a new comfort zone. Good luck.

If your GPA and any further education is important to you, then transfer.

Was your GPA at WKU so bad that a few good semesters couldn't bump it up? If that's any possibility and you think you'd be more comfy staying where you feel you fit in, then stay. But you have a friendly personality; you'll fit in at UK. I had friends at UNI and got used to it, but I'm glad I transfered to ISU. And I was scared at first (though for different reasons I'm sure, as I hated UNI and applied to ISU in October of my freshman year), but I fit in just fine.

I know that it seems like it's best to make a decision based on things like the people or the campus or the town, but you are there to learn a career and you should go where you'll come out best for what job you want to do.

Maybe some of them don't transfer, but I've never seen where all of them didn't. :confused: When I transfered, only one class didn't count.

No no no - I *can* transfer them, I just reallydon't want to, and it'd defeat the purpose of transferring in the first place. At that point I'd have the same GPA I had at WKU (or even lower, as a couple classes were retakes), and the purpose of transferring in the first place would be to have a high GPA again.

Ah, okay. Well still, if it's that important to you that you're beating yourself up over a decision, I'd transfer. If it wasn't too important and you could live with your current GPA, then you wouldn't be so confused as to what to do. You just wouldn't transfer. Especially since there doesn't seem to be any other factor making you want to flee WKU.

Change is scary but this change seems like it will be for the good, better to do it early and get it done right away expecially if you have to make the change eventually regardless of what you do in the immediate future

Don't know until you try though. :) And if you know what made your grades bad the first time, then you may better avoid that at UK. Study more, study with people, whatever.

:lol: Yeah. But then I can't say I'm not guilty of the same. I did that with both psych and soc. And women's lit. Thank god for drops, cuz I was failing psych.

Other classes I skipped about one a week. Bad couple years I had.

I have such bad depression that I don't work nearly as hard as I should.

Sometimes you just need to start fresh.

If this is what you need to do for your future, then go for it! Don't ever settle. Get out of your comfort zone and do what you have to do.
