It seemed like everyone is down on Ann Romano's character having a temper. I think it was good and about time that TV moms are seen as real people with issues and emotions instead of always smiling no matter what like June Cleaver, Carol Brady and Donna Stone. Ann Romano was the first TV mom with a temper and did not mind letting you what she thought.

I wasn't down on her temper, and I agree - she was one of the first realistic moms on TV. With a daughter like Julie, it's no wonder. However, I think the most realistic TV mom by far is Roseanne.

Carol Brady showed emotion, June Clever never did. But Ann was defintely for the SNAPPING of TV moms-lol
Having a temper worked for her, it made her character memorable. I couldn't picture June Cleaver, Donna Stone or Carol Brady having with that kind of temper.

You said that so well. I agree.
I at times was frustrated at Ann's temper, however, she was dealing with a tyrant (Julie) and she was newly divorced, dealing with issues as a single parent, it wasn't easy for Ann. She surely was a different tv mom than we had been exposed to. She also was realistic. Not all moms are patient, quiet and looking perfect.

Thank you that was well put.
I think Ann was one of the best tv moms. If I didn't think my mom was so good I would have loved to have had Ann as a mom! Yes, she had a temper, but she was a great mom. She took good care of Julie and Barbara. She couldn't always be their "buddy" or "pal". She had to be their mother. I think it would have been great to have had both Ann and Ed as parents. They seemed wonderful, probably especially when the girls were little. I would have loved to have had Ed as a father. He was the kind of father a girl would kill to have! Julie and Barbara were VERY lucky. I will say this though, if I had to get in trouble from one of them I would definitely choose Ed over Ann. From the looks of things, both Ann and Ed took part in the discipline of the girls, and I think that is good too. I would think most kids would love them as parents, even if they were divorced and you had to see them separately. I know I would!

I'm certainly not "down" on Ann's temper. As quite a few others said, this was one of the things about the character that made her more realistic than many other television mothers.
