Hello all, back from vacation & as promised some more news about the upcoming season of the price is right:
The production for the new season began this past wed, & 2 shows were taped, then 2 more on thurs & 2 more on Friday. So as I am writing this 6 shows for the new season are in the can. The air dates for thes particular shows are not yet known. As I have said before the taping schedule will be a bit out of wack for the early part of the season. The shows will not air in the order they taped. As of now Drew only knows 8 games, thats right I said 8 games. The show has over 70 games. This is part of the reason that the shows will not air in the order they were taped or all we would see is the same games over & over.
Drew is flying back to NY to put more power of 10 shows in the can, then he will be back in LA next weekend to learn more games. It is their hope that he can learn at least 10 games next weekend so more games can be used during the next set of tapings.
There is still no official tape date for the " season Premiere" show which will be the 1st show to air with Drew Carey at the helm. I can tell you this, all hope has now been lost for getting the show off on time on the 17th or 24th of September. I was told by my friend in hollywood that they want 6 weeks of shows in the can before the new shows start airing. Based on the taping schedule the earliest that can be is Monday October 15th & that is the tenative date for the start of the new season. That is by no means set in stone.
Ok, on to the set, I now have in my possession a few different pictures of the new set. The logo has a slight change to it. It is basically a 2 piece logo, kind of shaped like a hexagon, the right side has the words the price is right & on the left is the famous dollar logo that has been there since 1972. THe right side of the logo is a little larger than the left side of the logo. The right side of the logo is red. The left side is orange.
The doors all have their own idenity so to speak, they are all different colors & all of them have the logo in the middle & then many many circles with what appear to be diamonds inside them.
The one picture that I have really shows that the set has been completely changed. In fact I am not sure if anything from the old set is on the new one at all with the exception of the props.
All new showcase podiums, lights around the turntables (which also have a new look) & a new modernized contestants row display board.
To sum it up, to me the set still looks & feels like the price is right, it is just modernized & it looks like it was built in 2007 instead of 1972. I am a huge fan of the show & have been for a long time, but after seeing the new set, it is not as bad as i was fearing, but I think it has changed just enough that some people will have a problem with it.
As for the tapings, Drew received a thunderous ovation when he came thru the big doors & he was clearly moved by it, he signed many many shirts during the breaks (25-35 at least) & he seemed to grasp the show well. He was apparently very good with the contestants & was really comfortable doing the show.
Any questions, let me know & i will post more in the near future.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
