View Full Version : Roseanne88-97, I strongly believe that the ending of the episode when Rudy went to
TVFactFan 08-17-2007, 01:52 PM club exchange with her friends was not the real ending. The episode ended with the three girls sitting on the couch with a sad look after listening to cliff's message on the machine. But I think something was CUT, because i honestly believe there Cliff and Clair were seen again after Rudy and her friends came from the club. We will find out on DVD, it has to be, why would cliff do all the talking to pam and her friends about spying on rudy to never be seen again the rest of the episode??-lol I think there was something cut out between the time they left the club and between the ending with the girls on the couch

I was thinking the same thing. I've never seen the orignal network versions for the last few seasons, so I wouldn't know if there was or not. Wasn't it a season 8 episode? We're gonna have to wait awhile to see it on DVD, then. Bt, you're right. I believe Cosby owuld have been seen more in this episode other than what he was. I don't really see where other edits would have been made in this episode, too.

Exactly, where is the communication with Lance, Pam, and Charmaine with Cliff about what they saw??-lol Weren't they going to give him a report of what was seen at the Exchange???-lol
Brieannas21 08-17-2007, 09:09 PM Well I remember the original and that's how it ended, You didn't seen anyone at the end put Rudy and her friends listening to the answer machine.

Do you know what part was edited out? it does seem really incomplete.

I'm not going by something brieanna saw at the age of 13, I will just find out for myself when the DVS is released. Does she really expect me to go on her 17 year old memory????-lol

If I can remember a poem I had to recite in church when I was 5 I sure as hell can remember how an episode of TCS ended when I was in the 6th grade.

If you had said you recorded the ep yoursef and have to look for it and then found it then that would be a lot different. But for you to actually remember what was CUT out of a episode that aired in 1990 is something I can't go on. Do you know how many things happened in your life since that episode originally aired on NBC and you are going to tell me you remember what was cut out????-lol I don't think so

What???? What are you talking about  I never said that I recorded this episode. And I never said that they didn't cut anything out of this episode. What I said was, It ended the same way that it did when it originally aired.

Well I'm saying there is a different ending and you will be proved wrong when the DVD comes out.-lol
Just like I was able to see on the DVD that there was more to the ending of the ep when Cliff found Geoffery's Drill and was headed out the door. on N@N the ep ends with him going out the door, on the DVD Cliff is at Geoffery's Door giving him the drill.

ThomasE 08-22-2007, 04:59 PM ... at age 13 I saw this episode and this is what I remember:
Rudy and her friends listening to that answering machine....
then.........
I remember Pam and Charmaine talking about how the "Pallamino" was still open. Pam yelled "Yippe Kay Yay", then they walk out the door.
Lance then shouts out, "My fair ladies!"
If this part is not seen in the syndicated eps before Rudy listens to the machine, then that is the missing scene after all. If that scenes comes before then ans machine scene, then the show in intact.

How can a episode be in tact on N@N??? Hey Tom you are my boy but you are slipping man-lol
ThomasE 08-22-2007, 10:02 PM You are my boy too but Tom never ever slips when it comes to television. Now when you guys are watching this rerun, do you ever see Lance, Charmaine and Pam go back out the door? If you do not see it in the ep, then that is the missing piece. I do have the NBC ep but have not viewed in a long while.

You still think that there's another ending??????
TVFactFan 08-23-2007, 12:47 AM You still think that there's another ending??????
Yes because of the episode with the drill. That ending was N@N's ending and I saw different on the DVD. So since N@N has a reputation for having their own endings, I will have to wait to see for myself on the DVD or on the NBC version

I was 11 when that episode of Good Times with Ray and Willona wanting to remarry was shown during its first run and I remembered how it ended. That scene is always cut out of TVland. I made a post here abt how Willona calls the bakery and tells the baker to change CONGRATULATIONS RAY AND WILLONA and instead put something on the cake for a bar mitzvah and hope they find someone to buy the cake.
If I can remember that, how come Brieannas can't remember an how an episode ended?

It really has nothing to do with brieannas, n@n/tvland have a reputation of inserting there own ending for episodes and I was so amazed when i watch the ep when cliff was going to return jeffery's drill and always thought the ending was him walking out the door. only to find out on the dvd that cliff actually goes to the man house and gives him the drill. so that's why I feel I will be surprised when either i watch the dvd or when my man Tommie E send me the episode-lol
ThomasE 08-23-2007, 10:41 AM Well Solomon since that part with Lance in there, I don't think that there is anything left but any normal edits that are taken out in the syndicated/NAN version. I guess this will remain in the air until the final season is released or until myself or someone gets to their vault. LOL.

I was so much talking about the ending, I was mainly saying that I think Cliff or Claire was seen again after Rudy and her friends left the Exchange.

You keep saying that N@N inserts their own endings, I think you mean they cut out the real ending. They can't make their own ending. Just like TVLand edited out the ending to the Ray and Willona episode. I remember Brian D. even commenting that he never knew the ending to that episode ended the way I remembered.
And you did say that Brieannas can't remember what she saw at 11 because so much has happened to her since that time. That is true, but when you see a particular show in reruns over and over again, you will remember certain things. Just like I remember that Ray & Willona ending, Brieannas can remember the real ending to this Cosby episode.
TVFactFan 08-23-2007, 10:11 PM The way you saw it end, was how it ended on it's original airing.
It may have ended that way but I'm saying it's something missing in between them leaving the exchange and sitting on the couch at the end. I'm sure Cliff and Clair was seen after they left the Exchange

Slight Difference and but it still ended the same way with Rudy and her friends sitting on the couch
NBC version is now needed-lol
cheesecakehead 04-06-2010, 04:48 PM I was reading over this now and see that part of the debate was resolved as I own the dvds, and no at least on the dvds Cliff and Claire do not appear nor discuss anything with Pam, Lance, and Charmaine about their surveillance at the club. No, I don't know know what happened within the original airing, nor do I think I have ever seen the original, but unless there was some correspondence between Cliff and Claire & Pam and the rest of her cronies over the phone I do not think anything major was omitted. From the way they reacted when they came in and Pam semi-teased Rudy telling her there was a message for her on the answering machine. They all seemed like they had an interesting night out and were just getting home after everything. I think the point underlying here is that there's something missing from this episode. As you said why would Cliff and Claire have Pam and her friends go through all that, and not even talk to them about it after. I'm sure we're supposed to assume that they discussed it eventually, but I guess the point was supposed to be that Rudy lied to them about where she was going, and instead of confronting her about it immediately they let her go through with the whole thing, sent Pam, Lance, and Charmaine not just to catch her, but to watch over her and make sure she was safe. But, yes I agree this episode needed to be written better. For a television show, it seems incomplete. I thought the same thing when I recently watched this episode on the dvd, but after I thought about it I came up with the conclusion that I already stated. They caught her, made sure she was safe, and doled out the punishment via a message on the answering machine. I personally don't wholeheartedly agree with letting her go anyways, something I suppose still could have happened. So, the point is yes, there was something missing, but it was in the writing of this episode, not something being cut from the original airing. And good for you Brienna for standing by your guns, and bringing this back up much later after you noticed it looked like it was going to be swept under the rug.

I still believe that there was a TAG SCENE on NBC following up on Rudy's situation back in 1991-lol
