I had to do a proj. for my English 3 class last year and they had me painting or coloring or something and I totally got myself in a corner where I had to drag my hand through it or something, all I know is the side of my hand was green all day.

I'm a lefty who punches the numbers with my right hand but I listen with my left ear (I've tried listening with my right ear and it feels weird). I use my right hand to open doors with keys, but I use my left hand to open jars: my right hand is totally useless for that. :)

That's how I am except opposite.basically the only thing I do with my right hand is type. and it doesnt do that too well. The doctor says that the cerebral palsy affected my right side and thats why I'm left handed and left side dominate. Exept when I shoot a bow I pull back with my right hand, its wierd.

Learning to type was a real chore for me. Can you use scissors with your left hand? I know they supposedly make them for everybody now instead of just right-handed people, but I can't make them work with my left hand.

 Another example of "lefty sabotage." So, for you it's "right vs. wrong" rather than "right vs. left?" Someone once told me there's no such thing as left-handed: you're either right-handed or wrong-handed. im SEMI-ambidextrous.......I write with my right hand, also use it to hammer nails and draw, but, I do anything else with either hand, including eat or use a puter mouse. When i used to play hockey, id often get to the net, and switch hands, thus, when the goalie was expecting a backhand, of for me to have to go wide, id shoot left and fool him completely, which was easier when I could still get a straight stick ( Never really did get used to shooting with the curved ones )

Thanks for creating this thread, Brie!!! I love seeing stats, so this should be interesting!

I loved your sporadic choices. I chose "Mostly right-handed, but use my left hand for a few things." I was originally supposed to be left-handed. My mom said that I would use my left hand for eating and writing, but my dad absolutely refused I become left-handed (not sure why!!!). He get angry with me and would force me to use my right hand more. Eventually, I just became right-handed for writing and eating. I use my left hand for grabbing things, sometimes opening doors, scratching, etc. So, I guess I am somewhere between "mostly right-handed" and "ambidextrous."

You're welcome! :) Wow! Lots of people have checked in. Not surprisingly, the "righties" are leading the poll, but the "lefties" are well-represented. :woohoo: Your experience is not unusual. Many lefties are forced to convert (conform) because some people don't consider left-handedness "normal" or "right" (pun intended).

Totally left handed. Well, I guess you can't say totally if you count that I use my right hand for the mouse. Other than that I can't really think of anything I use my right hand over my left hand. I've tried using left handed notebooks and desks. They drive me nuts. I guess that's because society has conformed to the predominantly right handed. When I write it's with my left hand. When I cut with scissors it's with my left hand.

 Yeah, the mouse doesn't work for me either. I like the notebooks, but the desks do seem weird: I've grown accustomed to just taking up two desks. I've tried using left-handed scissors, but they feel weird after using right-handed scissors for so many years.

I've tried talking on the phone using my right hand and right ear, but it's very uncomfortable.

A lot of people say they wear their watch on the opposite wrist to keep from damaging the crystal, but I wear my watch on my left wrist. It feels weird on my right wrist. Same with the phone.

I'm primarily left-handed. I eat & write left, although when I write, I don't write with the paper straight and my hand curved like most left handers. My way the paper is slanted and my hand is like a right hander. I also use the mouse left handed.

I use scissors right, and when I played softball, I batted & threw right.
