LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sci Fi Channel is pulling the plug on "Painkiller Jane."

The female-centered action-hero series starring Kristanna Loken is wrapping production on its 22-episode first-season order, which will run as planned. Sixteen episodes have aired so far, with the season/series finale slated for September 21

Based on the comic book of the same name, "Jane" centers on top DEA agent Jane Vasco (Loken), a woman with regenerative powers who joins a covert government agency that hunts down "neuros," people with neurological powers.

The cancellation of "Jane" comes on the heels of the strong Friday premiere of another Sci Fi series based on a comic strip, "Flash Gordon," which scored the channel's best series premiere numbers this year.

man this STINKS!

...and I know that probably no one else has been watching Painkiller Jane, but I've been enjoying every episode since it premiered and it is WAY better than "Flash Gordon" - hasn't that 50 year-old story already been remade in every way imaginable?

it has been remade b/c its premise is so good! While I too mourn the loss of "Painkiller Jane" I really urge you to give "Flash Gordon" another try. I think each episode keeps getting better and better. And this version isn't as campy or cheesy as the 80's movie...
Have you caught any other FG episodes since your post?

I wasn't too crazy about "Painkiller Jane." Kristanna Loken was pretty good, but it just didn't interest me.
