Janice 08-12-2007, 01:12 PM How sad. He was such a nice and personable man. His talk show reminds me of my younger years. With all of his shows, he brought so much joy and laughter to so many. Merv Griffin has left quite a legacy, and he'll never be forgotten.

Bob's TV Treasures 08-12-2007, 02:57 PM Desperately seeking Merv's OTHER game shows (I have several PLAY YOUR HUNCH episodes, and an original PRICE IS RIGHT fill-in for Bill Cullen).
Anyone have WORD FOR WORD? How about KEEP TALKING? And then
there's one of the few big flops from Merv Griffin Productions, REACH FOR THE STARS? Anybody have those for trade?
My vast HAVE LIST is available at www.bobobrien.tv/videos

No disrespect intended but this thread is to mourn Merv's passing and to share your thoughts and memories not to advertise your game show want list. We have an appropriate forum for that.

You can rest assured that GSN will have a tribute to the man of some sort.

Luigimi 08-12-2007, 06:42 PM Should GSN will show a tribute to the game show producer Merv Griffin?
Dynomite 08-12-2007, 07:18 PM Should GSN will show a tribute to the game show producer Merv Griffin?
I believe they should, especially with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, back to back. Now, if GSN can pull up an old telecast of the original Price is Right with Merv Griffin substituting for vacationing host Bill Cullen, they should include that in his tribute. Merv may have left us, today, but his game shows will play for many years to come.

They should be able to, There's a clip on youtube.

howilu 08-13-2007, 05:58 PM Merv Griffin will always be remembered as the man who created two of the best game shows of all-time Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He also created lesser-known shows such as Let's Play Post Office and Joe Garagiola's Memory Game. This season also marks the debut of his new Crosswords game show. I have a hunch it will be a hit. But let's not forget that Merv also hosted Play Your Hunch before launching his successful talk show. Somewhere in heaven, a male contestant is telling him "I'll go along with the Missus, Merv."

ethelmaepotter 08-15-2007, 10:41 AM I had respect for him until I found out he was instrumental in the career of Ryan Seacrest. I am sorry, but Seacrest is nothing more than an over-hyped no-talent dud. Merv should have been a better judge of talent than that.
