Saturdays at 6PM starting Sept. 15
Highly-Acclaimed Weekly NFL Films Series Premieres on ION Television Saturday, September 15 with Giants-Cowboys Week 1 Match-up
ION has secured the rights to air the NFL Films production, “NFL Game of the Week,” for the 2007 season. The highly-acclaimed series will premiere on ION Television’s nationwide broadcast network at 6:00 PM ET on Saturday, September 15, with the Giants-Cowboys game from Kickoff Weekend, which Dallas won 45-35. A new episode will air each week of the 17-week NFL regular season.
“NFL Films’ ‘NFL Game of the Week’ has been a must-see for football fans for years,” said Howard Katz, Chief Operating Officer of NFL Films. “We are pleased that fans will watch this season on ION Television.”
Each week of the NFL season, “NFL Game of the Week” showcases that week’s best game in a one-hour program, and tells the story of the game that viewers didn’t see on the original broadcast. Presenting the action from a wide variety of angles, including specially-shot game footage, pre-game and post-game commentary and previously unheard sideline sound from players and coaches, Game of the Week brings fans closer to the action than ever before.
NFL Films President Steve Sabol, a 36-time Emmy® Award-winner, will continue to host the series, which premiered in syndication in 1965. It has aired on NFL Network since 2003.

Coming in 2008:
As part of its agreement with the NFL, ION Media Networks also has secured the rights to air a brand-new series from NFL Films, entitled “Stories of the NFL,” which will take a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of NFL players when they’re not on the field. Using NFL Films’ original music, candid interviews, voluminous archives and award-winning cinematographers, these half-hour episodes will “reveal the hidden gems of the NFL.” The season of 21 original programs will begin airing on ION Television in February 2008.

You really cannot be serious with this. We have been waiting for almost a month for this schedule. We've been talking about it's expansion, what shows will be new, what shows will come back, and what timeslots will be filled, and all we get is the same schedule we've had, just worse!?!?!?!?

First, still no expanding of hours. Must I say more? Second, now we only get The Wonder Years 3 days of the week, because Tuesday is filled with more infomercials, just modernized. Third Designing Women and Diagnosis Murder are still on the schedule, while we could have gotten shows like Alice, Amen, and Growing Pains back.

To me, it just counds completely like ION is afraid of axpanding their hours. Up to now, they've been relying on thier infomercials, and they are obviously making money, so they don't want to take those away for more ours of "real" programming. I am losing faith real fast in this network.

Sorry, I get worked up sometmes. They could have at least given us something new for September. And I do hate the idea of Firebrand TV. It makes no sense to add that in there just for the month.

So I see DW is doing well in that Old Alice slot. So maybe it was just the show itsel and not the actual timeslot.

That really blows any shot of getting a first season of Alice on DVD. ANyways, we're really seeing a lot of Designing Women this fall. I'm sure ION will take it off in October, since it moves to TVLand then. So, at least as of now we have one open slot in October.

(Maybe the studios who release dvds should look into this and see that people really are interested in these shows and release them on dvd) They definitely need to get rid of Diagnosis Murder ( SOOO BORING). Examples include getting rid of movies no one watches, Diagnosis Murder, Firebrand, Bodog Fights, etc. and concentrating on sitcoms more. Other examples would be actually expanding their schedule like they're always promising. And it would be nice if they ever added Perfect Strangers. But they'll never do any of that. Although they have some good shows, they're never interested in pleasing the watchers. They'll just keep trying new stuff which is destined to do terrible in the ratings, and keep showing infomercials all day long. Next month you'll all be here again complaining that they didn't expand again and didn't put on Perfect Strangers and mostly kept things the way they were, but I just expect it. The channel has so much potential, but will never use it. The reason is that they are very afraid of expanding their schedule. They would make less profits, and that scares them. But what's the use of buying all that stuff if you're only going to show only a few shows of what you've acquired?

I'm with you on this one. There are so many shows out there besides Designing Women that ION can air. I mean, they have the whole library of WB and Sony shows open to them to air, yet they are only airing the same ones. With DW coming to TVL, there are other shows avaliable to air.

The only shows I watch currently on ION are Who's the Boss? and Wonder Years, too, but we could be watching a lot more shows if ION would just listen to us. It's been well over a year since the network started, and I think it's time for some chnages to the hours. Why does it have to be only 4 days a week? Why does it only have to be 5 hours a day?

I"m personally hoping for Murphy Brown and perfect Strangers to come to the schedule, but that's just me.

I'd really love to see ION give some competition to NAN and TVLand in the overnight hours, but I think they'd expand to daytime before latneight.

I wonder if they even have many 1960s shows. Universal, Sony, and WB have some good ones that they should air if the expansion ever takes place. I like the 80s shows, but wouldn't mind seeing them air some older programming that nobody else cares to. They're doing great now, we just need more hours and a larger variety. So much potential!!!!

I was thinking the exact same thing. I turned to Ion, and right away in a box on the obttom of the screen "On now: Cleopatra" and I was thinking "you've gotta be kidding me." They gotta think that most of their viewers are there to see the sitcoms, not the movies, or miniseries, or whatever they are.

And, I'd like to see an overnight classic TV block, so while NAN is airing Fresh Prince, and TVLand is either airing Good Times or Andy Griffith, we can watch the good old black and white sitcoms.

Remember in the daytime ION carried episodes of "I Married Joan","My Little Margie",only a selected few episodes of the black and white "The Beverly Hillbillies" and only a select few"The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet?"My advice to the ION powers that be,would be to make it a comedy block,(instead of what is on now,mostly public-affairs shows,)and air ALL of the episodes-from start to finish.

No, he is talking about the ION DirecTV or Comcast feed that had those shows. ION couldn't air those series in the full network, because they didn't have rights. I think they were public domain stuff probably.

It's pretty obvious they are intimidated, or else we would have seen more hours already added. I mean, they only air 20 hours of ral, primetime programming each week.

About TBS, I have to say that their daytime show choices are very bad. They try to find the most badly rated, "I'll die if I have to watch this" shows, and then air them at the best daytime slots. I mean, their primetime consists of the most popular series of the last 2 decades, but their daytime sucks. Whos really wants to sit through an hour of Steve Harvey or Yes, Dear? I would much rather them air a little more classic shows, at least from the seventies or eighties.

And, another thing about what you said about ratings. Sure, NAN and TVLand air some shows more than toerhs just because of ratings, but if you were running a network, would you air a show that gets bad ratings or a show that gets good ratings?

I'm sorry, but I like ABC Family best as it is today. They've managed to get almost every show from the classic TGIF, and I love all those shows.

Hosted by Erin Moriarty, one of the veteran CBS News correspondents of “48 Hours,” the show will appear weeknights on ION Television beginning in the fourth quarter of 2007.

In its unique approach, “48 Hours” delves into a single subject, examining it from several angles with in-depth coverage and an action-driven style. The Emmy® award-winning newsmagazine blends real-life news events with expert storytelling, shedding new light on true-crime cases and examining issues facing everyday Americans.

Under terms of the agreement, previously aired installments of “48 Hours” will be updated with new graphics and wraps by Ms. Moriarty, who will provide the audience with new findings in ongoing investigations. Ms. Moriarty has been a correspondent for “48 Hours” since June 1990 and has a law degree. She previously had been the consumer correspondent for “CBS This Morning” and the “CBS Evening News.”

“‘48 Hours’ is quality, contemporary, versatile programming with great appeal for our family-oriented audiences,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO, ION Media Networks. “We are very pleased with this CBS content relationship, as we look to grow the ION Television network in coming years, through programming relationships with quality suppliers.”

“Providing an excellent mix of mystery, drama and reality, ‘48 Hours’ is one of television’s most successful newsmagazine programs,” said Stacey Nagel Galper, SVP of Programming and Strategic Planning for ION Media Networks. “For ION Television, it adds a dose of mystery and suspense to our generally light-hearted and upbeat weekday schedule. This new agreement is part of ION Media Network’s ongoing initiative to add new, compelling programming from leading content providers that blends with the network’s signature quality content. Last fall, RHI Entertainment and ION Media Networks announced a new partnership, whereby RHI serves as the exclusive television programming supplier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Since the start of the RHI and ION partnership, which began the weekend of June 29th with the digitally re-mastered, Emmy® award-winning miniseries Lonesome Dove, Saturday night household impressions have experienced a 55 percent increase over season-to-date figures.

Yopu've gotta be kidding me! ION is really letting up on us lately. here, we think we're getting a new channel for the classic sitcoms, yet they're acting just as TVLand would and give us current shows in the lineup. I'm sure it'll come to the lineup once they expand, but still, it's probably going to get one of the best slots, like 8, 9, or 10pm. I can pretty much say goodbye to The Wonder years right now!

Sorry for the rage, Pavan! I would just rather see sitcoms on the lineup than a show i can watch on CBS. In the article, it says the show will air weeknights, which probably means 6-11pm. Although this does mean expansion, it'll probably be taking up a good slot, where I'd rather see a sitcom like Alice air.

I know where you're coming from. I can't stand the show either. I don't get why they have a medical drama mixed in with a bunch of sitcoms. It doesn't really make sense. And, that's why I said 48 Hours could air 6pm . . . instead of DM.

Solomon, your point doesn't make sense. AFV repeats very well in syndication and network reruns on ABC. EM: HE also does well in repeats on its network airings. 48 Hours Mystery, whenever it is a repeat on CBS Saturday, it usually does just as well as originals. No one can tell the difference. ION will have updates on the archived stories they will air, so it will feel a bit new. ION can easily get 1-2 million for this show, which they can't really do for the sitcoms, so this is a good business decision. They should air sitcoms 3-6pm for sure, and keep them also at least from 6-8pm if they don't want to run them 8-11pm either. We'll see what happens when the schedule comes out. Then we can decide.

The problem with not airing sitcoms after 8pm is that those, for me atleast, are the best hours to watch sitcoms. The only times I watch ION now is from 8-10pm, because there's nothing else on ABC, NBC, etc.

It doesn't seem like anyone here is the least bit happy about 48 Hours coming to ION. It just seems like they're beginning to turn into TVland - ditching the classics for more current, drama/reality TV.

Yes, they do need Who's the Boss? I love this show and I'm so happy that its back on tv. I'm not happy that they are putting this 48 Hours thing on there, but I am glad that Who's the Boss? and The Wonder Years are on ION.

Of course, you have a point, but I, and most other people, probably watch the channel currently because of it's sitcoms. People that don't even come to this site, and know nearly knothing about the network, watch it for the sitcoms because that is what's on the channel most of the time.

Airing all in one night, the miniseries features American Film Institute and Film Critics Circle Award winner David Wenham (Getting Square, Lord of the Rings, Van Helsing), Isabelle Blais (Human Trafficking, The Barbarian Invasions, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) and newcomer Alex Tilman, who is a native of East Timor and lived there for many of the tumultuous years highlighted in the film.



Answered By Fire is inspired by the recent and horrifying true events in East Timor . Two police officers with the United Nations Mission, Australian Mark Waldman (Wenham) and Canadian Julie Fortin (Blais), step unprepared into the eye of a profound political storm--a referendum designed to finally free East Timor from oppression. But in its wake, the country is plunged into lawlessness and set ablaze by militia, forcing the pair of freedom fighters to evacuate. Once home, haunted by guilt, Mark and Julie decide to return to East Timor , and out of the ashes of revolt, seek justice for a people they vowed to protect.



Answered By Fire was primarily filmed in Queensland , Australia , where a Timorese town of 2,000 – 3,000 inhabitants was reproduced. The UN compound built for the production is an exact replica of the building that the UN Mission used in East Timor . Establishing shots of East Timor were filmed on-location. The miniseries is directed by Jessica Hobbs (Love My Way, So Close to Home) and executive produced by Michael Prupas (Human Trafficking, Murder in the Hamptons ), Barbara Samuels (Black Hourbour, North of 60) and Roger Simpson (The Nostradamus Kid, Something In the Air).

What is wrong with this thread? It states that there are 8 pages, but, when I click on page 8, it just goes back to the top of page 7? Am I going crazy, or, is this happening to anyone else?

Do you have any idea if October will bring us any changes? Even if it's just a new show, expansion, anything? I hope the schedule doesn't stay the same as it is now, it's starting to get pretty boring. Time to shake things up, remove some of the double takes and give us some different shows.

Anything they give us on weekends is better than the miniseries or whatever they call them. Who honestly wants to sit through 4 hours of the same documentary? I'd rather watch the infomercials and government stuff we get during the day-LOL

Like most people around here, I'm hoping for big changes in October. Hopefully expansion, maybe from 3pm-6pm, then the 11pm hour. Then for sure we'd get shows like Amen. Alice and Growing Pains back on the schedule.

I am hope that the Hours are from 12:00 pm until 11:00 pm Central Time

What *I* would love to see in October would be an expansion from 3-6 (or mornings, whatever), the removal of Diagnosis Murder/Designing Women and some new shows brought in. Tone Wonder Years down since it's been airing for 5 months now. I imagine they'll probably air 48 Hours at 10PM, since they seem pretty excited about that, so no getting around that.

TV Land Fan, good schedule. Although I may agree and disagree with you in some places, it's something ION should consider if they plan on expanding. I'd also get rid of Diagnosis Murder, plus move Mama's Family from the 8pm hour, and put The Wonder Years on earlier. here's a schedule I'd like to see, with a few new shows, and few current shows:

Of those shows, I think we have the best shot of seeing Facts of Life, perfect Strangers, and Murphy Brown come to the lineup, because they are eighites-early nineties (except for FOL) and fit in with the rest of the schedule.

They have tried 60s and 70s, remember Green Acres, which seemed to do decent and Alice from the 70s. Acres aired for quite a while, I think it will be back before Alice, Growing Pains, Amen, etc but that's just my feeling. Seems it did better.

Green Acres was still on when it was PAX, and back then, they had a lot of older shows on. When it became I! network, they had GA, plus other sixties/seventies like Partridge Family, Kung Fu, and Charlie's Angels. But, since the network became ION (last January), Green Acres hasn't been on, and we only saw Alice on for awhile. Right now, all they're shows they're airing are either eighties or nineties, so I'm assuming they're focusing more on that now.

It is dumb. I'm so sick of all these miniseries and movies that seem to air all the time. The weekend is the best days for watching TV, and I'd rather watch sitcoms than the stuff they air then.

I swear, those miniseries are so annoying! I liked it better when ION aired their own movies from the library deals. Is anyone honestly going to watch this Henry Ford thing that was airing this weekend???

I saw that too. I plan on watching Home Improvement on NAN and I Love Lucy on TVland anyways.

Wow is that weird. We erally haven't done much complainging about the weekends until lately, and right after your rant, they begin airing NFL games on the weekends. Although I'm not much of an NFL watcher, my husband will be happy. And, anything's better than the RHI movies. Pavan, will the movies still be airing Friday and Sunday's, and will the Saturday movie be moved to a different slot?

It is not a NFL game. It is highlights and insight on the game of the week from the previous week. The NFL show is Saturdays 6-7pm, that does not have anything to do with changing the RHI movies, which will remain Fri-Sun 7-11pm. As I said before, RHI movies will not be moving timeslots...because they can't.
