Why is it that I've seen at least 20 ads for Sabrina the Teenage Witch on DVD but I haven't seen any ads for Benson on DVD? Benson needs advertised to help it get good sales.

Paramount payed ABC Family to air those ads, which is why you're seeing them. Sony must not have payed any channel to air any ads for Benson Season 1.

Sony is way too cheap to ever create an ad for their DVD's.

I agree, and Sony is notorious for being cheap with advertising. It's a shame too, because they did such a wonderful job on Benson Season 1 that they should justify the time and effort they put into it with some proper advertising. It seems as though, judging from Amazon.com and comparing it to some others shows that came out around the same time, that it's actually doing pretty well but a little advertising sure wouldn't hurt.

But Mad About You Season 3 did very well also (I think it was #1 at one point on Amazon) but we still haven't heard any news on season 4. The thing with Sony is, if they don't make exactly what they want, then they abandon it. Either that, or we just have to give them time (like we haven't done that already)-LOL

I remember TV Land airing Benson at like 11:30pm or something like that, then they yanked it off. Too bad, because I never had the chance to get into it. They did the same thing with Night Court and 227.

They actually started airing at 9pm and I thought that was a good slot but I guess tv land viewers couldn't get into the show

They were airing Murphy Brown at 10pm, which I also thought was a good slot, but they yanked it off about 2 weeks later. I'm guessing the same thing is going to happen when Designing Women comes this October, considering it's had the same treatment Murphy Brown has on both networks.

Yeah, and it's weird because (from what I hear a lot of people say anyway), TV Land is ridiculously impatient with shows, unlike other networks. Benson got yanked from it's timeslot in ONE WEEK. One friggin' lousy week?! By the time people wanted to tune in because they knew it was on, it was off. I'm not sure what timeslots Night Court and 227 had but I'm sure they were yanked nearly as quickly too. It's not only unfair to fans of those shows, it's unfair to people like you who aren't given a chance to get to know a show they've never really seen.

Oh, and catsrule, we can use you over on the Benson board. I've started discussion threads for the Season 1 episodes. :D

I knew the show was coming to TVLand, but I didn't know when it was airing, and there was little promotional effort to bring in ratings for the show. I just hope season 1 is selling well . . . I'm thinking of picking it up. Tvland hasn't been bringing any new shows to the network lately, except for the 2 "mystery" shows expected to come. But, their last acquistion was MASH, and we all know how successful that was.

Wow, TVland seems faster yanking shows than NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX (especially fox). Though I did hear of one show getting yanked after one episode!

You must really hate that show. I thought it was just OK, but I never thought it was horrible-LOL

I barely even watch TV Land anymore because I have no idea when the shows are on that I want to watch. Just when I find when a show is on I want to watch regularly they go and change it. Yes, they are indeed worse than the on air networks.

You're right. They have a different schedule seriously for every day of the month it seems like. Why can't they just stick to one weekday schedule, and one weekend schedule? They have all these preemptions, movies, special lead-ins, movie encores, and then the stupid Elvis marathons.

Oh yeah don't even get me started on the movies. If I want to watch a movie I'll go to one of the 30 or so other stations that have better movies on. The moveis they've been showing on TV Land aren't classic in any sense. Now they'll have Extreme Makeover Home Edition, a show that's still airing? TV Land has sold out a long time ago. Thank God for DVDs so I can see classic shows that I want to see.

TV Land Canada isn't that bad... I don't watch it much though.
