I always thought Willona Woods on 'Good Times' was a good mother to Penny. The only part where I didn't like her is when she refused to talk to Penny about sex, but that can be hard for any parent.
Flordia was a good mother in law.
Wife: Edith was awsome. Meeting Archie at the door and bringing him a beer everytime he told her to. She did more than most women would do. They would say, 'get it your own damn self!'

I forgot to add Emily Hartley (Bob Newhart Show). She was not a mother or mother-in-law, but she was an awesome wife to Bob. :D I agree with you, 4077th, about Willona. She didn't become a three-dimensional character until she became Penny's mom, although I always liked her.
