I know J.J. was an artist. Who was the actual artist whose paintings were featured and can be seen during the closing credits?

TVFactFan 08-03-2007, 07:29 PM I know J.J. was an artist. Who was the actual artist whose paintings were featured and can be seen during the closing credits? It's in the closing credits where the paintings are from. Ernie Banks was the Artist, i'm not sure if he is the only one -STEFFY- 08-03-2007, 09:42 PM Those paintings are awesome! Ireneparalegal 08-03-2007, 10:20 PM It was Ernie Barnes, who also did some of Marvin Gaye's album covers. You will see the same style on the albums as the paintings on the show. TVFactFan 08-03-2007, 10:23 PM WAsn't it Ernie Barnes? Yeah, I said Banks-lol Janice 08-03-2007, 10:48 PM Yeah, I said Banks-lol You've got Fresh Prince on your mind, lol. Ireneparalegal 08-03-2007, 11:10 PM Here is a link to Ernie Barnes work which lists his other album credits like Curtis Mayfield. http://www.erniebarnes.com/artistvitae.html I guess he only did one album cover for Marvin Gaye, I thought it was two. Here is the Sugar Shack work for Marvin's album I WANT YOU: Janice 08-03-2007, 11:13 PM Here is a link to Ernie Barnes work which lists his other album credits like Curtis Mayfield. http://www.erniebarnes.com/artistvitae.html I guess he only did one album cover for Marvin Gaye, I thought it was two. Here is the Sugar Shack work for Marvin's album I WANT YOU: Wow! That's a stunning painting. A person would have to look at that, study it actually, for quite a while, to take it all in. I LOVE the song, I Want You. Thanks Irene. I appreciate it. :) Ireneparalegal 08-03-2007, 11:14 PM No prob. Janice. My pleasure. tanquant 08-04-2007, 02:48 PM I have always wondered why JJ didn't try to go into animation. He would have made a lot of more money than trying to sell those paintings. Cartoons were big in the 70's With that talent he could have gotten a scholarship. With a grant, the money left over after art supplies, books and tuition he could help pay a bill, buy groceries or help out a neighbor so they wont have to eat dog food. catlover79 09-10-2007, 12:12 AM Yeah, I said Banks-lol Wasn't Ernie Banks a baseball player? I too liked the paintings used on the show - very unique and gritty. |
