August 3, 2007 -- DEAN Cain, who played Superman in "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," won't be donning the cape again - but he will visit his old haunts.

Cain has inked a deal to guest-star on The CW's "Smallville," which tracks the early life of Superman, played by Tom Welling. Cain will play a villain named Dr. Curtis Knox, and he now becomes the second "Superman" star to appear on the show.

The late Christopher Reeve, who played the Man of Steel in the movies, guest-starred on "Smallville" as Dr. Virgil Swann.
