Right off the bat, I stick with NAN and TVLand, even though they're having some rough times in programming . . . but besides that, ABC Family from 1pm-4pm, TBS and WGN for some afternoon and late primetime, and ION for primetime 9pm-11pm. That's about it for me.

I think cable TV is really a rip-off. Yes, there are about 900 channels on the damn thing but they repeat the same shows over and over and over. I love the Animal Planet, but they air the same shows every day. Some episodes of some series are over five years old, but they keep airing them anyway...as much as three and four times a week.

I use to like the Food Network, too, but they might as well call it the Rachel Ray network because she is on at least seventeen times a day! I couldn't stand her years ago, and I certainly can't stand her even more after her horrid plastic surgery. She looks like Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

My great grandmother died a few years ago at the age of 102. She was amazingly aware and spry for her age. She swore TV was one of the worst inventions ever. She didn't even have a TV in her home until the late 1960s and even after that, I don't remember her having it on more than a hour or so a week. She claimed that little "idiot box" would have more of a negative effect on people than anything, and while I thought she was crazy years ago, I am beginning to believe she was right. It really is a mind-warper.

Without TV, as a whole, we would be much better off.

ABC Family for Family Matters
WGN-for Beverly Hillbillies, Matlock, and Homicide

I forgot about the 8am slot. What a bad slot to be in, though. The Golden Girls seems to air like 10 times a day in pretty good slots. Looking at the schedule, it also airs a 2am, which is another bad slot. Hopefully it does well on NAN when it comes in 2009.

I like WGN for Matlock, Happy Days, and Cubs games. Seeing the Chicago news is always fun too.

Being born and raised in Chicago, I remember my reaction when I first found out that WGN was nationwide..."why would anybody else want to watch Chicago news and Cubs games?"

Anyway the cable channels I watch are mainly the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, the Travel Channel (although I maintain to this day they should just call themselves the "Haunted Channel" since that's a majority of what I see on there!), various cooking channels, sometimes Comedy Central, the home improvement channels, and occasionally ESPN or TBS if there's a game on I want to see.

TVLand is out, MTV/VH1 are pretty much out, those political channels are out, and I can't say I watch any of the religious programming either.

I watched WGN for the Twilight Zone episodes which aired uncut. There was a time several years ago in which WGN had 2 different feeds, One local and the other national. The local feed was carried for awhile by satellite as WGNL.

I agree with about half of this list. My channel list looks like this:

SPORTS

CBC (Hockey Night In Canada on Sat. nights)
TSN (for hockey on the rest of the week)
Sportsnet (baseball)

ENTERTAINMENT

SUN TV (for Family Affair, Leave It To Beaver, and Here's Lucy; only Beaver will be back in Sept.)

CTS (for Happy Days and sometimes Facts of Life; soon to be joined by Laverne & Shirley and Family Ties)

RTN---if it ever gets off the ground, I'll start watching it again

I like Teletoon a little bit. What has me excited is the launch of a new channel called Teletoon Retro which will start in Oct. It will feature many classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Bullwinkle and Rocky, and the Canadian classic Rocket Robin Hood. Should be fun!

Which ones? Mines? Well I have directv. Most people have never heard of Logo, The N(Noggin), Fuse, or the Sundance channel.

Fuse is what MTV used to be while Noggin/The N is the better version of Nickelodeon. Sundance channel is a movie channel that plays mostly indie flicks and Logo is a gay/lesbian/bisexual channel.

Let me tell you, while it's good that there is a channel for everyone, you really aren't missing much.(My husband just won't watch it with me unless it's about lesbians/bisexual women:lol: ) They show the same things over and over. It takes them forever for their original programs to air a new season, but I must say I enjoy shows like Noah's Arc, NewNowNextMusic, Coming Out Stories, Can't Get a Date, Curl Girls(I know those girls, they are sweethearts!) and the show where they show short films by up and coming directors. The documentaries on Logo is outstanding though!

I'm sorry your parents won't let you get Logo(or Here), but Logo programs are available on iTunes for $1.99. I suggest Noah's Arc and and if you like corny stuff, The Big Gay Sketch show(they have a skit on one of the episodes poking fun at Jo and Blair's so-called tension:lol: )

Nice list!

FUSE is very different from what MTV was/is though. MTV was always all about the top 40, whereas FUSE plays those, and a whole bunch of other stuff....I used to like the channel a lot, but over the last 2 years, it's been slacking. They've been showing less and less music, starting their own reality shows, airing movies and "The Sauce" sucks. "Daily Download" and "Dedicate Live" were the best.

The N has Degrassi and Dawson's Creek, which is always great (though I own all the Dawson episodes and have seen every Degrassi episode a hundred times, LOL)...I'm glad they expanded their shows.

My brother likes the Sundance channel, but I prefer IFC.

You are right, Fuse is a lot different from MTV, before and after. The N has the best teen programming(even though, i'm a little over the teen years by at least seven years). I cannot, however, stand "The Best Years", I prefer South of Nowhere over that show. I'm a huge Degrassi fan, my faves are Alex, Paige, Liberty, and Marco.

I really like IFC also. I like watching movies that doesn't have 'big blockbuster' quality.

Wow, you responded quick! (I made some minor edits to my post before you posted, LOL).

FUSE at it's worst is still 10x better than MTV. And I agree about Sundance and IFC.

Oooh, I don't like "The Best Years" either. Degrassi is my favorite of their originals. Craig, Ashley, Paige, and Elle are my favorites....Instant Star is okay, but definately not my favorite.

I would have to agree with Fuse, I stopped watching MTV a while ago(I got a beef with MTV...they gave Tila Tequila, the whore from myspace a "bisexual" dating show where men and women complete for that skank, MTV once again makes bisexual women look bad) because of the dumb programming. My husband and I love Fuse.

I really tried to get into 'The Best Years' but I couldn't, all of the characters irk me and they are so over dramatic which is fine except for the fact that not one could act.
