View Full Version : Bonjour mes amis from Belgium!
Luckymama58 08-02-2007, 05:01 AM I know this isn't really on any topic on these boards, but I have made so many friends here that I wanted to say Hi from Belgium. We flew in yesterday morning and have been having a wonderful time visiting my son and his German girlfriend Mara. I have internet part of the time I am here and will keep up to date on all the happenings on the boards. As Chico would say, Europe is LOOOOOKING GOOOOD! LOL
Mikado 08-02-2007, 08:17 AM ahhh...I thought you were a new poster from Belgium! ( I was all ready to make the post to you, completely in French! :D )
Just to be totally technical, if you want to say that title completely in French, you can say : Bonjour mes amis, de la Belge ...pretty darn good though ;) Have a fun trip :)

 My highschool French is very rusty  I wasn't too sure how to say the rest, thanks!
Cheryl Harrell 08-02-2007, 11:55 AM Cool! Have a good trip. Bonjour Chico. (That's all I can remember from High School French as they made us spend too much time conjugating verbs instead of learning to speak it lol)...

No problem....of course, Belgians speak a different French than i do...when i was in jr high school, we got a new science teacher from Belgium, and, no one in the class could understand a thing he said!

Karen64 08-02-2007, 10:31 PM That's really cool--enjoy your time there--sounds like you're having a wonderful time! Take lots of pics!
Luckymama58 08-03-2007, 02:29 AM I am having a great time. Europe, especially this part, is very beautiful and the weather has been great, 70's in the daytime and 40's at night.... beats where I live right now which has been near 100 and humid!
I plan on blogging my whole trip when I get back with pics and short video, I have been keeping a daily journal to do that with when I get back.
Thanks for all your good wishes.
Mikado 08-03-2007, 03:28 AM While youre blogging and such, make sure you actually save enough time to have fun ;)
Pitooey 08-03-2007, 06:29 AM Sounds like you're having fun Lucky. I feel happy for you as well. What have you been eating over there?
i hope you have a great time and a safe trip home!!!
Luckymama58 08-04-2007, 05:16 PM Hi, I just got back from Normandy. We did a lot there, but the ride home (to Belgium) was long and tiring.
Jennylee, I am eating all kinds of new and different things, definitely NOT American food. Not that I have anything against American food, but I can eat that anytime at home. I want to do like they do on those Travel Channel shows and try new things. It has been great.
Mikado, I promise I am having lots of fun, and I don't plan on setting up the blog site till I get home. It is mostly for my students who gave me money towards this trip (their a great bunch of kids), but the blog will be open to anyone to see. I don't want to do it over here only because all the information I have about blogging is at home. Plus my computer access is limited to public computers, and I want to be able to upload pics and stuff to go with it.
Tomorrow is a day trip to Brugge. I am looking forward to that.
More later! :D
Mikado 08-04-2007, 07:32 PM Sounds great and wow, your students must really love you to pieces :)
If you have a chance , take a day to visit a WW1 battle field , there are some that have restored trenches and artifacts. ( If *I* went to Belgium, that would be my main destination :D )
Luckymama58 08-13-2007, 05:03 PM Well my father in law fought in WWII and my husband and son were wanting to see some of the places he was... we just got back from Bastogne today. We also went over to Burchtesgaden when we were in Germany. My father in law was with the 101st Airborne.
This trip was has been a dream of mine for two years and my kids in school are great kids, I had them for two years because I moved up with the last year. They have been listening to me plan this trip and the moms are very generous. I am blessed.
My son might be stationed over here a lot longer than we thought, so there are always trips in the future to save for and plan. We did see some memorials in Bastogne, BTW that were dedicated to both WWI veterans as well as WWII vets.
Cheryl Harrell 08-15-2007, 05:17 PM Sounds like you are having a great time. Have a good trip! :)
Luckymama58 08-16-2007, 01:29 AM I have had a wonderful time, seeing parts of 6 countries in 16 days! WHEW! I will need a vacation from this vacation. We leave today, keep us in your thoughts as we fly across the pond (as the British call it) and home!
