Winter “Warner”land
The girls are in the living room drinking hot cocoa.
Jo: Boy is it cold out there!
Nat: Yeah I hear that its supposed to keep snowing all night long.
Blair: Oh dear- I hope mother will be able to drive. She’s going to drop Bailey off and go run some errands tomorrow.
Jo: Oh another time of your volunteering us to baby-sit.
Blair: Please Jo- Bailey is really excited to come visit.
Jo: Well I could never turn Bailey away- I was just saying how you never ask us to baby-sit- you tell us when we’re baby-sitting.
Tootie: Oh I won’t be able to see Bailey- I have a play rehearsal to go to tomorrow.
Blair: Well that’s a bummer. But I’m sure that she’ll visit again and you’ll be able to see her then.
The next day. The doorbell rings.
Blair: She’s here! She’s here!
Jo: Well don’t stand there shouting- open the door.
Blair opens the door. Monica and Bailey Warner are standing there.
Blair: Bailey! Hi Mom. Was the driving bad?
Monica: Not too bad. It is slippery out so if you go anywhere do be careful.
Blair: Ok Mom. Well good luck with your errands. And you said you’d be back around four?
Monica: Yes- that should give me enough time. I’ll see you later honey.
Monica gives a kiss in the air to both her daughters and Blair and Bailey do the same back to Monica. Monica then leaves.
Blair: So Bailey what do you want to do?
Bailey: I don’t know- can we go sledding?
Blair: Well its cold outside- did you bring your snow pants?
Nat: Umm Blair- I think she’s wearing them.
Blair: Oh I see- well I don’t think that we have a sled.
Jo: Actually there is an old one in our closet.
Blair (gives Jo a look cause she really doesn’t want to go out into the cold): Oh- well Bailey it looks like your in luck. (Smiles) Jo, Nat and I will take you sledding.
Bailey: Can I go get the sled?
Blair: Sure Bailey. (Bailey goes upstairs) I just love seeing her happy.
Jo and Nat: Wait what do you mean WE will take her sledding?
Blair: You guys got me into this. You guys are going to come with us.
Bailey comes downstairs with a sled and then everyone goes out the door.
The girls get out of the car.
Blair: Longstretch hill. I hear it’s where the kids like to go.
Jo is staring up the VERY large hill.
Jo: Have you ever questioned why its called Longstretch?
Blair: No (glances over) Wh...wh...why- Oh my gosh its huge! Maybe we can go elsewhere with Bailey- where is she anyway?
Nat: She’s all the way up there! How did she get up there that fast?
Blair: I don’t know but we’d better get up there too. Jo grab the sled.
Jo: Jo grab the sled. Jo do this. Jo do that.
Jo looks around to notice no one is listening. She starts climbing up the hill. She’s pulling the sled by the rope attached to it. She finally gets to the top of the hill.
Jo: Whew, that was quite a climb.
She drops the rope. THe sled starts going backwards down the hill.
Jo: No! No! Wait! STOP!
Jo runs after the sled. She belly flops and slides down on her stomach.
Jo finally returns with the sled.
Jo (out of breath): Here take this before it ends up down there again.
Bailey: Yeah! Blair push me please. PLEASE!
Blair (shivering): Ok ok. Get on.
Bailey gets on and Blair pushes her down. After she slides down the endless slope, Bailey gets off and after what seems like a hop, skip and a jump she’s at the top again. Bailey gets on the sled and Blair pushes her down the hill.
Blair: I’m freezing. (She looks at her watch) I wonder how much longer she’ll want to keep doing this.
Jo: Well its only my guess but I’m pretty sure she’ll want to go more than 2 times.
Nat: I’m going to go make a snowman. Maybe the movement will keep me warm.
Blair (shivering): Ok I guess I’ll keep pushing Bailey.
Bailey returns with the sled.
Bailey: Blair, will you ride down with me? Pleeeeease?
Blair: Well alright.
Blair gets on the sled behind Bailey. They go down the hill. When they get to the bottom Blair hops off.
BLair: That was sooo much fun.
Blair and Bailey run back up the hill. They go down a few more times. When they come back up Blair sees Jo sitting on a tree stump.
Blair: Jo this is a lot of fun!
Jo rolls her eyes.
Blair: Your not having fun are you Jo?
Jo: Eh, I’m glad you and your sister are having a good time.
Camera flips to Natalie, who has built a snowman complete with stones for eyes and mouth and sticks for arms.
Nat (talking to it like its a guy): So John how are you? (Puts arm around stick arm) Oh how kind of you. (Pretends she’s walking) So would you like to get some hot chocolate? OH your not into hot chocolate? Your so cool!
At that moment a kid sleds right through the snowman demolishing it.
Nat: JOHN!
Later
Jo and Nat are both leaning against the tree stump. JO’s bored and Nat’s depressed. Blair and Bailey come up the hill.
Bailey: Aunt Natalie please sled down with me.
Nat: No, I’m not into it. John’s dead.
Jo: Oh will you get over John.
Blair (laughs): Yeah he was too cold for you anyway.
Nat glares at Blair.
Bailey: Please Aunt Natalie? Please?
Nat: Oh ok.
Nat and Bailey go down the hill. They run back up and soon Nat, Blair and Bailey are all giggling taking turns. Jo rolls her eyes. When they get to the top of the hill again, Bailey hops on the sled.
Bailey: Ok Aunt Jo. Your turn.
Jo: No no no no no. I don’t think so.
Blair: Oh come on Jo. It’ll improve your attitude.
Jo: How, by making me giddy like a five year old?
Nat: Exactly!
Jo: I haven’t gotten on a sled since I was seven.
Blair: So your long overdue.
Jo: I’m not getting on!
Suddenly we hear snapping sounds. Bailey’s hood has been accidentally (?) half unsnapped.
Bailey: Oh no! Aunt Jo will you fix my hood?
Jo sits down on the back of the sled behind Bailey and starts fixing the hood. Bailey turns and winks at Blair and Nat.
Jo: Bailey hold still or I can’t snap the hood on.
Blair and Natalie look at each other and smile. Suddenly they both charge at the sled and push it down the hill.
Jo: What in the world?
Jo, startled hangs onto Bailey and covers her eyes.
Jo: Watch where your going!
Bailey: How can I when I can’t see?
Jo puts her hands on Bailey’s shoulders. The sled stops. Jo gets off.
Jo (screaming): WHAT IN THE WORLD? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? ARE YOU NUTS? (smiling) Why didn’t you tell me this was so much fun? Come on lets do it again.
They run back up the hill. The girls are taking turns riding down with Bailey.
After a while...
Bailey: Well we probably should be getting back.
Jo Blair and Nat: Oh a few more times. Pleeeease?
THE END
