Farewell to one of the all-time pro football coaching greats. We wouldn't have heard of the "West Coast Offense" if it wasn't for Bill Walsh. He helped make the 49ers the NFL team of the 1980's. Because of him, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Dwight Clark and other gridiron greats, became synominous with the 49ers Dynasty, although George Seifert succeeded him in 1989 and coached that team to two more of the team's five World Championships, between January, 1982 and January, 1995.

Bill Walsh, who coached the San Francisco 49ers and helped them win three Super Bows (1982, 1985 and 1989), has died of leukemia. Walsh was 75.

Yea he was a great coach. He also made some coaches pretty good coaches. He made a terrible team into one of the best teams of all time in the 80's. He invented the west coast offense. The NFL owes him a lot.

Oh man this is sad. During the 1980's Bill Walsh and his 49ers drove me crazy. I never rooted for them in any SB and truth be told I hated that team. Being a Cowboy fan it should be understandable. But Walsh was a great coach who built a great team and started the big rivalry between the Cowboys and 49ers. I do miss those days because we had some great games with them. R.I.P. Coach. You were one of the best. :(
