View Full Version : Who best personified the 80s look...
88survivor 07-27-2007, 12:44 AM There are a lot of teen stars and adult actors that really had that 80s look to a T...here's my selection:
Kirk Cameron......curly mullet, tongued sneakers, tight jeans, fedoras, and pretty boy looks
Anyone from the Facts of Life. lol.
comedyfreak 07-27-2007, 07:35 AM Don Johnson from Miami Vice, the white suit and stubbly beard.
88survivor 07-27-2007, 08:26 AM As much as either hates or loves this character/actor from Happy Days or Lucas Was Here, you have to give Scott Baio(Chachi, Lucas) some credit. He really did start the whole 80s working class kid look before the style was in for the show. Hell, even the Frog brothers from Lost Boys dressed exactly like early Chachi a bit. The muscle shirts, the jeans, the converse shoes, the jean jackets, etc.
Anyone from the Facts of Life. lol.
Big hair, shoulder pads...
The horror..the horror...
;)
sunshinefizzy 07-27-2007, 09:26 AM The Cosby kids I thought definatley did sometimes.
catlover79 07-27-2007, 10:13 AM The Facts of Life girls, hands down.
88survivor 07-27-2007, 02:05 PM Actually, FOL was my grandmother's favorite show. Nana loved that show....and now, my grandmother is no longer alive. I really do have the movie, Lucas Was There. I use to dress like that when I was kindergarten...true story. I also had my hair like that, too, like Scott Baio did in that made for T.V movie as well as the early 80s Scott Baio hairdo in 1991....wow. That was a true story. God, I overgrown my hair when I was eight...LOL
Also the ladies from Designing Women had that great 80's look.
88survivor 07-27-2007, 07:16 PM Big hair and shoulder pads...80s Southern belles with a Dynasty flair to their clothing. I love it...
catlover79 07-27-2007, 07:52 PM Big hair and shoulder pads...80s Southern belles with a Dynasty flair to their clothing. I love it...
Oh yes, how could we forget Dynasty?? Back then, the look was so glamourous. Now poor Linda Evans and Joan Collins look like drag queens in the reruns.
freshprinceofLA 07-27-2007, 08:35 PM Both Miami Vice actors (don johnson already listed) Philip Michael Thomas as well the suits, the hair and the cars that those guys drove just totally 80's.
Kirk Cameron the whole look he mastered the jeans, the hair, the walk and the talk even.
Also judith light from who's the boss? she had the BIG:eek: hair and huge red circular glasses
88survivor 07-27-2007, 09:20 PM My sister in 1992 at Disney World had that little curly haired Kirk Cameron hairdo...boy, that look was even popular for women, too. 80s fashion revisits... A lot of people said during my kindergarten years said I looked like I could have played Charles' other cousin because I looked like a better relative match than the Anthony character back then..
Dcelest 07-27-2007, 09:59 PM Don Johnson from Miami Vice. The white suit and pastel shirts.
Joan Collins and Linda Evans from Dynasty with the shoulder pads & beautiful gowns by designer Nolan Miller.
88survivor 07-27-2007, 11:44 PM Those were some huge ass gowns worn by Joan and Linda.....they practically represented a huge gay following for sometime. True story..
Nighthawk76 07-27-2007, 11:54 PM Blair Warner from The Facts of Life.
comedyfreak 07-28-2007, 07:09 AM Also the Square Pegs gang personified the 80's as well.
88survivor 07-28-2007, 12:41 PM I love the Square Pegs gang......
RIP Merritt Butrick...you were too good for us to lose so early on.
Scoobiedoo30 07-28-2007, 12:46 PM Alyssa Milano
88survivor 07-28-2007, 04:43 PM I always thought that Alyssa Milano was so cute on Who's The Boss?
Scoobiedoo30 07-28-2007, 05:05 PM Alyssa Milano was very Pretty opn Who's The Boss?
Nighthawk76 07-28-2007, 05:15 PM Lila Pembroke (April Lerman) and Jamie Powell (Nicole Eggert) from Charles In Charge both had a great sense of 80's style.
88survivor 07-28-2007, 07:38 PM April Lerman shall be remember as one of the girls from Annie as well as a pretty unknown Martika....;)
Classicshowsgurl15 07-29-2007, 03:42 PM I think that everyone on who's the boss kind of had an 80s style.
88survivor 07-30-2007, 06:23 AM I love Who's The Boss? so much...I love all 80s shows since it brings a simpler lifestyle back then...
Fallon97 08-11-2007, 12:21 AM Joan Collins (Alexis Carrington) and Linda Evans (Krystle Carrington) -- Dynasty.
Robey (Mickey Foster) -- Friday the 13th: The Series.
88survivor 08-11-2007, 08:20 AM Everybody did called me Robby back in 1st Grade...now that's funny.
comedyfreak 08-11-2007, 09:34 AM Bud Bundy had the 80's look with a Mullet.
factsoflife 08-11-2007, 01:32 PM Blair from The Facts Of Life, Val or Abby from Knot's Landing
88survivor 08-11-2007, 03:27 PM Great choices, people...:)
Scoobiedoo30 08-11-2007, 03:33 PM that is a great choice
88survivor 08-11-2007, 05:28 PM Greg Evigan from BJ and The Bear...that's some hair during that show.
Erin Gray on Silver Spoons and Buck Rogers From The 21st Century.
Scoobiedoo30 08-11-2007, 05:43 PM I did not know that Greg Evigan was in B.J. and The Bear
88survivor 08-11-2007, 07:05 PM That was him...
BTW, it's true. In first grade, everyone use to either called me Bobby or Robby.... I lived with it. I didn't mind it...:) I really did have a serious long-ish hair when I was only eight...it was rather called a mix between Baio/Travolta...It was almost like the kid, R.J. Williams, on the show, Wake, Rattle, and Roll.....though was it just me or did R.J look remarkably like Jimmy Baio a bit?
comedyfreak 08-15-2007, 04:09 AM The Coreys, Feldman and Haim also displayed the 80's look.
88survivor 08-15-2007, 09:06 AM True on The Coreys....when they were "it" in the 80s.:)
I guess those syndicated seasons Charles In Charge shirts
are making a huge comeback.....you know, untucked shirts, Nike, and tight pants.
factsoflife 08-15-2007, 01:25 PM True on The Coreys....when they were "it" in the 80s.:)
yeah the corey's were pretty huge in the 1980's...
88survivor 08-15-2007, 03:37 PM They were "it" back in the 80s.....back then, you didn't know about the drugs they were in or whatnot...but it was the decade of excess. It was such a simpler time and when the 80s ended, it became known they were heavily into drugs.
I must say, we have give Scott some credibility...well, not a lot, but he brought untucked shirts back in style for the 90s and onwards. After all, I do wear that untucked look sometimes. Not all the time...but sometimes. But we have give Jimmy Baio some credit, too...especially for his role in Facts of Life.

I have been watching the Coreys on A&E and they said they were high in License To Drive.
Jimmy Baio was in Soap not Facts of Life, unless he did a guest appearance.
88survivor 08-16-2007, 12:05 AM He did make two guest appearances on Facts of Life...one in the third Season(The Academy) and the second one from the fourth season(The Big Fight) as Buzz Ryan..:) Thought that was interesting.
comedyfreak 08-16-2007, 12:39 AM I missed those episodes, you know he's since disappeared from the spotlight. I've been wondering what he's been doing lately.
88survivor 08-16-2007, 07:56 AM His only recent appearance was on Mirror Has Two Faces when he was a waiter and that's all I can remember.
comedyfreak 08-16-2007, 08:10 AM Yeah, nothing else shows on IMBD or Wikepedia.
88survivor 08-16-2007, 04:06 PM Well, let's stay on topic for a wee bit...
Scoobiedoo30, great selections, btw. I commend you on thoughts..
Tweety 08-20-2007, 07:53 PM I liked the look of Markie Post on "Night Court" and Valerie Bertinelli on just about anything (she did a lot of TV movies in those days).
88survivor 08-20-2007, 08:34 PM I love those gals....;)Thanks, Tweety.
How about Jason Bateman and his sister, Justine Bateman? They both nailed the 80s look to a "T"...Jason with his role as Derek in Silver Spoons, his role in It's Your Move, and The Hogan Family. Justine as Mallory...I love Justine, but Jason is awesome in those roles.

Yeah, Justine definitely! I thought about her after I posted about Markie and Valerie...
88survivor 08-21-2007, 11:07 PM Good suggestions, anyway, Tweety...:)
I'm sure there are more in my head at this moment..
88survivor 08-22-2007, 06:44 PM We can't forget about Donna Mills, though.
Not a star, but, hey, can't forget good ol' Rick Springfield as Dr. Noah Drake, though, in General Hospital. Now that's 80s for you...My mother's secret crush.
Or Richard Dean Anderson's short stint role in General Hospital, but best remembered as MacGuyver with that classic 80s mullet hair and those 80s clothing.
ekkostar 08-23-2007, 07:57 AM I liked the look of Markie Post on "Night Court" and Valerie Bertinelli on just about anything (she did a lot of TV movies in those days).
Oh yes. Markie with the mullet and funky suits with shoulder pads.
Scoobiedoo30 08-23-2007, 11:41 AM I also say Markie
factsoflife 08-23-2007, 02:00 PM What about Lynda Carter on those variety specials! or was that the 70's? i'm a 90's kid so i don't know!
ohhhh Molly Ringwald in John Hughes Movies!
88survivor 08-23-2007, 05:10 PM Lynda Carter had great hair in those 70s specials. Not to mention the ultimate "Wonder Woman"...;) in those satin tights. Better not think naughty things...
88survivor 08-23-2007, 08:13 PM Good thing you guys didn't mention the Cleaver brothers(Wally or Beaver) The scary thing is that my dad looked like Mathers when he was his age..at that young age. It's scary...
88survivor 08-25-2007, 06:19 PM How about Dana Plato in Diff'rent Strokes....
;)
factsoflife 08-26-2007, 01:53 AM The Golden Girls...
88survivor 08-26-2007, 10:08 PM I love the Golden Girls....they like so precious. I love these gals..:)
